  Dreary !

  We were two families who stayed at this hotel for two nights on a half-board basis as part of our trip to the Alps in Haute-Provence. It wasn't that easy finding the hotel, and once we finally found it, it wasn't clear at all where the entrance was. The exterior looks very faded and old, and in desperate need of sprucing up. The interior is equally tired and shabby. We were greeted with nonchalance at the Reception, and then dragged our luggage down dank corridors to our disappointing rooms. The rooms are just about bearable, but bleak and cheerless, with cheap furnishings. The family rooms we had were on two levels, with a double bed on the lower level and three single beds on the upper level under sloping ceilings. One of the upper rooms had no windows at all; and as the rooms were already quite dark, this particular room felt even less inviting. The lighting in the rooms was completely inadequate. The bathrooms were very simple with awful amenities; the showers were rubbish and there was no shower screen or curtain: the whole bathroom could get soaked after a 5-minute shower! Both rooms had terraces. The views were fine from the terraces, but in comparison with the fabulous scenery in the region, the views were not much to write home about. The medium-sized pool was not too bad actually, with enough sunbeds around and plenty of scope for sunbathing: quite good for families and couples alike. There was a charge of 17 Euros per person per session for use of the indoor Jacuzzi and Sauna. This wellness centre was not that appealing and must have seen better days. Seven of us wanted to make a deal with the manager to use this room for a discount for only 30 minutes just before dinner one night, but he wasnt interested. So the completely empty wellness centre continued to create expenses for the hotel without making any money that evening. Someone in the hotel has to put their business head on! The dinners were above average though, and the only smiling and helpful member of staff was the young man who was one of the two waiters. Breakfast on the other hand was terrible really, and the breakfast buffet spread was very sorry-looking indeed. I would say the acceptable dinners, the OK pool and free WiFi were the only positive aspects of our stay. The total cost for two nights on a halfboard basis per family room was 540 Euros. I would not return to this hotel, nor would I be so unkind as recommend it to anyone. I would suggest that if you want to stay somewhere in the area, you should stay more centrally in the resort of La Foux DAllos; but stay at Hotel du Hameau at your peril.

  Un hotel con muchas posibilidades pero que está muy desdejado. La piscina sin limpiar y el jardin lleno de hojas. Hay una cinta de Navidad en la puerta que da a las habitaciones, y la estancia fue en Julio. La habitación familiar esta bien. Una cama de matrimonio abajo y un altillo grande con tres camas. La decoración un poco pasada de moda pero en general la habitación, bien. EStá un poco lejos del centro de la estación, pero se hace un paseo agradable. En general decepciona un poco pero la habitación bien.

  Lovely overnight stay

  We found Hotel du Hameau to be very nice, great location to town which is about 10/15 mins walk away so you are not in the middle of it all. You can easily drive/walk into town to hire ski stuff if required and get your ski pass or if you have your equipment there are more car parks further up the road which are less busy and ideally located with a short walk to the piste, where you can buy your ski passes. The hotel we found to be full of character, clean and not noisy. We had a room on the 3rd floor with a view of the mountains which was lovely. We had dinner in the hotel and found the food to be very good together with the service. Overall a very nice stay and would highly recommend. Be warned if using Booking.com as we did not get the best deal, so would highly recommend phoning the hotel direct. Booking.com would have you believe they are selling you the 'last room' available, maybe on their site but the hotel was less than half full and we could have certainly got a better price with booking direct.
