An historic hotel that made little effortMy wife and I were motorcycle touring and stopped in L'Aigle due to terrible weather. Whilst the lady behind the desk was most helpful in booking us a room, that's where the help ended. She was nice, all other staff were difficult at best. I spent 30 minutes moving various items of luggage to our first floor room (number 8) which was awkwardly tucked into an old corner of the first floor. No help was offered and the only attention given to me was by a male employee who occasionally spoke into his newspaper/phone to say 'non' when I asked various questions. Our room was off a small cupboard / corridor. Usefully, at 0730hrs a hotel employee needed something from the cupboard just outside our door. The excellent acoustics of the small room just outside our door meant that his shouting woke me up quite promptly. There was no need to book a wake up call. What was surprising here is that we were probably some of the only people actually staying in the hotel so it was generous of him to have targeted us so successfully and accurately. When leaving, I struggled for a further 30 minutes with our bags. The kind man from the day before was on hand to never help with a door nor to help me catch any objects as I dropped them - I should have commended him for his inactivity. A+. This hotel should have been magnificent as its history suggests but it was a worse stay in the 10 days which we spent in France. On a plus, the brasserie was excellent and the restaurant looked good. I would not recommend that any of my friends stay here and I would recommend that the hotel review what the term service means. What potentially unnerves me is that this Hotel is on the WW2 circuit. I would be most disappointed if I knew that people visiting the important locations of 1944 were obliged to pay for the service which we enjoyed.

Quaint hotel but excellent cuisinePart of the Logis group - we received a very warm welcome from the landlady - rooms were good if a little old-fashioned. Dinner was expensive but absolutely excellent. Breakfast was a bit basic but the overall stay was very good - especially to tour this quaint old town.

Long weekend at the Hotel du DauphinVery helpful with our motorcycle group of some 55 people . The hotel breakfast and evening meals were very good. The hotel prepared a secure parking area in the square in front of the hotel for our bikes. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

A good overnight stopWhen planning a September drive thorough France, we chose LAigle as a suitable place to break our journey and this hotel was a good place to stay. There was a wide choice of food and drink in the bustling hotel brasserie which, in addition to guests, seemed to attract many local people. Parking on the square outside the hotel was initially a problem. It requires a blue card permit and was very busy with cars arriving and leaving all the time. However, parking is free from 18:30 until 09:00 the next day and during those hours there were many available spaces. So, time your arrival for 6.30pm and all should be well. We were initially concerned that our first-floor room overlooked the square and the busy carpark but during the night all was quiet until the following morning. If we were to pass this way again we would be happy to stay here.
