Cosy, value for moneyStayed in hotel Dorf gorshonishi from 4th March 2019 to 9th March 2019. Comfortable and clean room. Hotel staff are friendly. Price is reasonable and free breakfast provided in the morning which is rare in japan hotel. Hotel surrounding is quiet and peaceful. 3 stops away from Kyoto. The nearest station is marutamachi which is 7 mins walk from hotel. The station has a mini mart should you need to grab some food or cheap coffee at 100Y

New and clean but...I've just completed a stay at Dorf Bettei Kyoto. Everything is clean and new but the twin room is very very small with a tiny pre-fab bathroom that you step up to (like a crate) and the room has depressing mini windows that do not open or show anything but a frosted glass. It is a place to go to sleep and shower only. It is a fair price for that. This is my third hotel stay in this city and I'd would definitely recommend staying someplace else. Also, breakfast is not worth it as it is one cup of coffee, one mini salad and a piece of croissant.

One main flaw but they made up for it in other waysWe arrived to find a charming location. The room however was extremely hot (located on the top floor - the 4th). They told us it was unseasonably warm and should cool down at night. This is a fairly small room with 3 adults. They do not turn on AC until May. This wouldnt be a problem if they had windows that opened (they told us that they dont bc of an agreement they have with the house next door). They also didnt have a fan or even try to find one for us. We wound up leaving the room door open for a while and the bathroom vent actually helped. The first night was pretty miserable but then it was fine. The staff was actually very nice but I would have appreciated some help in obtaining a fan. It was getting late and we couldnt get to a store to buy one. The room itself was small but had 2 beds then a roll out couch that wasnt very comfortable. The bathroom itself wasnt large enough to hold toiletry bags but was otherwise clean and worked well. The location was pretty ideal for us. Near train stations, restaurants, convenience stores and the imperial palace. The breakfast is a great start to the day as well. Simple, fresh and good. The staff gave us a recommendation for a yakatori place and even set up the reservations. It was delicious. When we were waiting for our taxi to leave, it was raining and one of the staff came out and stood next to me with an umbrella. It was very sweet and I was grateful. I think they should think about keeping a couple fans on hand if they arent going to allow AC or have windows that open. Its horrible feeling all gross from travel and then get to the room to feel hot. Due to their kindness and assistance through the rest of the stay Im giving 4 stars.

Some issues...General concurrence with other reviewers. Rooms very small and really warm with tiny bathrooms. My main issue was with the reception staff. I am disabled so had rented a bicycle to save me from walking, which I find challenging. I explained this but their grasp of English was low and their flexibility was absolute zero. I was NOT allowed to park my bicycle at the hotel, I had to park it at the bicycle park about 15 minutes walk away. They could ONLY park hotel bicycles outside the hotel, or they would have to charge me 1000 yen per night. There was zero tolerance for the fact the walk was uncomfortable for me. No flexibility in just shifting the bikes up so mine could slot in beside them. Very disappointing.

Good customer service and value for moneyI moved to this room at the last minute due to issues with my pre-booked acommodation and they found me a quiet room at the end of a corridor at a very reasonable rate. It had everything I needed and the reception staff were very helpful. The room was a little small and it would have been nice if the tv had the option of subtitles, but other than that, everything else was fine and I had a good stay.
