  Sophistication & luxury; reasonable rates

  This delightful hotel was originally an affluent home in the 16th century, later a monastery. The 1920's hotel was refurbished over the last few years by our charming host, Paulo, into a beautifully appointed boutique hotel with every convenience, log fire, tasteful decor, original artwork, and an unbeatable view over the square and sanctuary, just outside the the little village of Greccio. The menu is full of local produce and the food delicious. A great vantage point for the Christmas festivities in the square, a peaceful retreat with easy access to Assissi, and lovely countryside. Only an hour or so from Rome, we highly recommend this hotel.

  Lacks a bit of soul

  Fine hotel with all the comforts and amenities you could want. Unfortunately, in this part of the world you get used to hotels with character and charm and that's exactly what this place is lacking. The restaurant looked good, although we didn't have dinner there.

  Charming hotel and host

  We stayed one night at Hotel della Fonte in Greccio, on a walking holiday through Umbria. The beautifully-restored hotel was very comfortable, with a large room more like what you'd expect in a good urban hotel than a village B&B. Paulo and the staff very pleasant and accommodating, and tasty local food. Worth exploring the gardens with the friendly resident dog too.

  Lovely, friendly hotel in a charming, medieval village

  Hotel della Fonte is a top-notch hotel offering beautiful accommodations and excellent food. Paolo is an enthusiastic, warm host who went out of his way to meet our needs. The hotel has great views, overlooking the charming square of Greccio, a medieval village near many St. Francis sanctuaries. Simply a perfect hotel in an outstanding location! We will return.

  Very nice hotel

  We had a huge comfortable room overlooking the lovely piazza. The entire hotel was beautifully decorated. The service was good and WiFi reasonable. The food at dinner was somewhat uneven and French fries were served with dishes that didnt need them at all, such as meatballs. The breakfast was adequate but uninspiring. But would still highly recommend the accommodations themselves.
