A very pleasant hotel with an excellent restaurant!I found this hotel purely by chance when surfing the net. It was a shame my satnav couldn't do the same. If you can't locate it, cross over the canal from the town centre and its almost directly opposite a "Super-U" petrol station. This hotel is obviously in the process of being finished. It would appear that the accommodation, in a block of bedrooms opposite the main building was built many years ago. The reception and restaurant in the new part are very modern and in my opinion, attractive. Built of large stone blocks and matching light mortar, I feel this building will continue to improve as it ages! We arrived, just after our travelling companions, in the early evening and our room was ready for us. It was well presented and had obviously been re-modelled very recently. The facilities were organised as a "wet room" and there was plenty of hot water and clean towels, together with a hair dryer and magnifying make-up mirror (which the women raved about!). The only improvement I could suggest would be an air conditioner, as there was only a multi-paned door set in the wall, but no window for ventilation. We discovered that it was possible to "lock" the door open by way of a cable (for security), but this was only in the middle of the night when we were unable to sleep due to the heat. Once the door was set open, however, the room cooled down and we completed a good night's sleep in the very comfortable bed. There was telvision in the room, together with wi-fi and a kettle (but no cups or tea/coffee making paraphernalia?). We had an EXCELLENT meal in the restaurant which I understand is under new ownership and operated separately, although part of the new building. There is an outside area where we would have loved to have dined, but due to gusty winds and the threat of rain, we chose to eat indoors.

A little French country hotelLovely setting, in the countryside on the bank of a canal. Our room was very small but clean and the bed was comfortable; however there was no window or aircon and the room was stifling. There was a television in the room, which we didn't use and a kettle but no tea or coffee, but no matter because there was no cups to put it in. The bathroom was adequate, found a used plaster on top of the soap dispenser, not nice! The restaurant looks great, dinner was OK, not fabulous, not terrible. Breakfast was expensive for what there was to choose from.

Trip to JoinvilleLittle and agreeable hotel in The Haute -Marne on the bank of an old canal. The hotel is easy to reach. Located in the countryside and very quiet. Large and confortable room. Continental breakfast. Large carpark. I particularly appreciated the cleanliness in this pandemic period. The personnel is friendly and applies the protective mesures conscientiously.

Incredibly friendlyStayed for one night whilst touring the region. Everyone was extremely friendly, lovely clean & nicely decorated. Didn't eat there but the food looked very nice. We hadn't booked but they were extremely welcoming..

Perfect quiet doggy hotelLovely setting backing onto the river. The only issue we encountered with this was the amount of midges/mossies so do load up with spray. Its about a 20 min walk from the town with a small selection of restaurants or you can drive there in a few mins. We stayed overnight to break up our journey through France. Really friendly B&B and we had a good nights sleep in our rather large bed! A door directly to the outside was very helpful when you have a dog so no flights of stairs.
