  great town but look for a different hotel

  booked and paid for a triple room in this hotel after reading reviews. when we arrived the person at reception was unfriendly, insisted that we had to pay for the room although the room was already paid for, tried to force us into taking breakfast. The room allocated to us was very small, old and dated. It had a small double bed and a single bed. the bathroom was build into the room. The toilet made an immense noise (saniflo) so could not be used in the night. Shower broken. The walls are thin and so we could follow other people's conversations in neighbouring rooms. Stairs not very sturdy. Overall i would not recommend this hotel. The town however was very nice and well worth an overnight stay.

  I didn't actually stay in this hotel, but...

  I landed in Châlons-en-Champagne at a really busy time so finding a hotel room was difficult. I knocked in here to see if they had a room. Even though they were full the woman at reception went out of her way to find me a room in another hotel and booked me a taxi to get there. I can't speak on the rooms etc, but that warmth and hospitality makes me think you're in the right hands if you stay there! It's also very close to the city centre

  Conveniently located

  Needed a one night stop on route to the channel ferries so thought we would try Chalons and the Hotel de la Cité. The lady who received us was very helpful and friendly. Our room had everything we needed, although smelt a little of damp. No private car park; just parking in the street outside. We opted to take breakfast which was typical and plentiful.

  Decent hotel within walking distance of everything

  Easy to find, ok rooms, easy check in... parking outside. For the cost this was a good hotel. Nice little courtyard to sit and have a drink... only sell Beers and soft drinks though. They did allow us to buy wine and bring it back. Woman on reception was extremely helpful. No air conditioning, be warned.

  Good location

  We were more than happy with this hotel. The lady on the front desk was friendly and helpful and the rooms were good sized and characterful. Free parking right outside too. Its an easy walk to the nearby bars and restaurants and is in a quiet location.
