    Great location, rigid staff

One night visit for the Aix Festival. The hotel is perfectly located, though the entrance is oddly on the first floor of a palais of sorts. Heavily carpeted and dark, the entrance and public areas are uninspiring and depressing without any windows. The room was nice and bright (we had a room called "Eau") with tiled floors, with a great terrace overlooking the Cour Mirabeau. The design is oddly modern and not well thought out, with open shower and bathroom (separate toilet). Though not my taste, the room was good, with quality bedding, and it was clean. What was disappointing was the management's reaction to our noise complaint. There was public works directly outside our balcony, with drilling and street work from 1am to 6am. The hotel was well aware of this scheduled public work and did not give us advance warning, though they had many opportunities to do so. Our complaint was dismissed with a we-upgraded-your-room-you-should-appreciate-that shirty attitude, and that was that. Four star hotels should do better than that.

    Terrible attitude and dingy reception

Walk into a dingy dark reception to be greeted by an unfriendly person who does not appear to expecting any guests even though sitting at a hotel frond desk. She could not find our booking and showed no interest. Hotel room is reasonable but small and noisy. The bathroom was not cleaned adequately and the beds were made with little care. The staff were extremely unhelpful when we required any assistance. No English spoken.

    Avoid like the Plague!

Staff's English is quite poor. My shower poured all night and couldn't be fixed. Tried to change rooms and they took me to someone else's that was occupied at midnight. Booked suite, got room. Advertises expresso maker in rooms. Learn that only some rooms have expresso maker. Mine didn't even have instant coffee. Stayed here before and was okay. I will never, ever stay here agin. I travel frequently. What an awful experience. Can't wait to leave. I have stayed at some very pleasant hotels in Aix.

Our experience at this hotel was very poor. The entrance to the hotel was barely visible and full of motorbikes and beggars in the front. We arrived and were met with the cleaning staff vacuuming and mopping the reception. The staff were not very prepared nor helpful. We asked if it was possible to stay another night and first were told yes and the morning after no. The rooms are not at all comfortable the only positive feature being the terrace and perhaps the location. No satellite tv channels. I would give it two stars.

    False promise from hotels.com

Booked this French 4 stars hotel through hotels.com. we selected it because of its location. Description of the room was great and attractive. The reality upon checking was schoking. The room is facing the reception desk. Inside, it is small with no space to open two bags and the window is facing an appartment building from where you can be seen well and clearly so you have no option but to keep the curtain on the whole day no way you could enjoy daylight. There is no small desk where you can use a laptop. Beyond space, the second days the room was not made including the bathroom which was not refurnished with fresh towels and toiletries, not to mention the bed not being done properly. We had to call and protest to get fresh towels and small shampoo. Staff is kind of apologizing and understanding our deception by telling us that they don"t have any other room to move us in. But did not make our stay any better. In the corridor the smell from the restaurant kitchen was adding to our discomfort. At the end the young receptionist told us they will ask hotels.com to refund us part of the paid price almost US$ 200/night. Will not use these hotels.com in the future as they apparently don't check what they sell.
