  Quiet location, good service

  I stayed here three days for work, planning an event at a nearby venue. The staff was immediately friendly and helpful. It can be quite a climb to get to your room, if you have health problems this is not the place to stay. I had half board and both breakfast and dinner were excellent. The beach is nice, a little cramped but there are lounge chairs for rent

  Wonderful Hotel

  We had a lovely week at this traditional family run hotel. The location is superb, just back from the beach. The hotel is nicely arranged around a series of gardens and courtyards providing lots of opportunities for seating and shade. The food is really good, traditional Italian (we had half board) and there is a good wine list. The staff were excellent in every respect. Good selection of rooms for couples or families.

  Delightful Hotel, Beach Access Not Optimal

  The Hotel Danila is a family hotel located on a somewhat secluded bay on the island of Elba. At one end of the bay is a 5-star hotel (where friends of our stayed), at the other end of the bay is the Hotel Danila. The hotel is family-owned, and the service and care are superb. Our room was very nice, although the shower was tiny even by European standards - a large person would have trouble with it. We had breakfast and dinner there each of 5 days. The dining room atmosphere was friendly and even encouraged connections between guests. The food was very good, as is all Italian food, but not spectacular (and a bit repetitive in the morning) The several outdoor areas are very nicely done, inviting and relaxing. The beach near the hotel is very small and not particularly welcoming. Nearby, after walking (easily) over a rocky point is the main beach of the bay which is very nice, even if too much of it is privately owned (or at least managed) by other hotels. If you like to sit on the beach in lounge chairs with services readily at hand, you will look longingly at the beaches of the other hotels. If you like to just lay on the beach, you can make the Hotel Danila work for you. Note also that there is no pool at the Hotel Danila. The hotel is at the bottom of a steep hill, and somewhat hard to find at first. We were there at the end of the season, and there was no regular hotel transportation to the ferry. However a staff member kindly drove us back to the ferry. I am not sure what are the standard arrangements during the season. Certainly there are no taxis in the bay area.

  Nice Hotel close to beach

  Stayed here for seven days in September for a conference. Luckily, I was in a room close to the main building with not too many steps up to it. The bathroom was on the small side, especially the shower but it did the job. Had a bit of trouble getting Wifi signal inside the room, so either had to go outside or into the main building. The breakfast spread was good, plenty of food. Although it did get repetitive by the 7th day! I really enjoyed the evening meals. There was a cold buffet for appetisers which changed each night. Mains were very good and also changed each night, There was usually something on the menu for everyone. Dinner for the next night was ordered the previous night. This hotel is in a remote location (perfect if you want to get away from it all) so a car would be needed if you would like to go exploring around the island. The views are stunning! This hotel is situated at the bottom of a very steep road. I found walking up it quite challenging each day. Alternatively, if the tide is right you can walk along the beach and across a rock path. the hotel is right beside a beach, however I would suggest heading up the beach (past the rock path) as the beach is much nicer in this location. Overall, I was very happy with my stay and if I needed another beach holiday, I would consider here!

  We stayed at Hotel Danila for the first time last year and decided to return this year. We consider it a wonderful hotel located amidst a perfect Mediterranean setting. The property is sort of a botanical garden of its own, with intire edges of jasmine, rosemary, and countless varieties of flowers, all kept very nicely. We opted for the apartment, the were over 50 steps to get up there, but it was well worth it as the view of the gulf below was stunning. The rooms were clean and airy. The owners were friendly and very attentive to the customers ' needs, the staff aslo, from Francesca at reception to Ula and Andrea in the dining room were kind and professional. And now for the food, it was simply delicious from the appetizers to the desserts. We truly love this quaint hotel on isola d 'Elba, it's unpretentious but very comfortable and pleasant. We plan to return to it next year.
