Not the best !Upon arrival we tried to check in early however was could only do so after 2pm...so at 4pm we checked in and upon arrival the room hadnt been made and left exactly as the last people had left it...bed linnen all over the place etc, we went down and tried to complain but without so much as an apology was told to wait until the maids had sorted it and we couldn't move rooms...we went down for breakfast where the buffet was a total mess and no clean glasses or cups, food all over the place ...we asked if they had any fruits but the girl said that the kitchen forgot to get them !.....would only stay here again if someone paid me.

Rude staff, we cancelled our second nightThe check-in was quick enough, although the guy in the rumpled shirt and glasses behind the counter seemed more keen to get rid of us than provide an efficient arrival. Upon seeing the room we realised the bedding included old, flat feather pillows, hardly the hypoallergenic bedding that was described on our booking confirmation. With my wife being an asthma sufferer she went back to our new friend at reception and asked if it would be possible to change her pillow for a non-feather option. To summarise the next 5 minute confrontation; our friend has worked in 13 hotels, so he knows more than us as guests and we should have contacted him in advance to ensure they didnt use feather pillows. He sucked through his teeth repeatedly, told us how difficult it would be to change the pillows, and raised his voice to speak over my wife (who is a native German speaker). At one point he even rode out of his chair to try to intimidate my wife. Upon that display of customer service, we decided to cancel our second night that booked for the following week. Its a shame, as the hotel seemed reasonable value for money other than our new friends attitude. The floor of our room wasnt particularly clean, the bathroom door squeaked loudly (something we would have expected housekeeping to have reported and rectified) and our friend at reception was also ignorant (or ill-informed) of what the restaurant provides. My one main concern is regarding the electrical safety within the bathroom. Im no electrician, and I appreciate that building regulations in Germany are different, but the hairdryer was wired directly into the wall socket immediately next to the sink. As far as Im aware, this is extremely dangerous as the hairdryer is not fused and not earthed. Any contact with water in the sink just a foot away could be catastrophic!

Liked it a lotWe only stayed one night on a stopover on Christmas Day but enjoyed dinner and breakfast. The room and bed were comfortable as well. Parking our car was easy on the road right in front of the hotel. Don't know what's to see or do in Neukirchen-Vluyn but as a stopover it was brilliant.

Room very basic, breakfast OKStayed 1 night in this so-called **** star hotel. The reception area already lowered my expectation; when arriving in the room this appeared to be old, very basic, no desk. And this combined with the price of Euro 85 definitely was a mismatch. The breakfast though was fine and abundant choice.

Good hotel for a good priceI stayed 2 nights at this hotel in October. Had a very good deal, so did not really know what to expect... but I was pleasantly surprised. Free parking is a plus. If the hotel parking is full, you can park in the street next to the hotel, and walk 2 minutes to the entrance. Booked a single room, and got a Studio, including a kitchenette, dining room table and large bathroom. Ok, the room (and basically the complete hotel) looks a bit outdated... but it's clean and still in good shape. Considering the price, you cannot expect a state of the art hotel. Breakfast isn't very well organised. There is too little personnel to clear tables and to restock the buffet. The items you can get from the buffet taste fine, and once stocked you have a pretty decent choice of products, but things run out quickly. The spa area looks decent (didn't use it, just had a look) The village itself isn't very interesting, some small shops, a few restaurants and a big Edeka supermarket. But it's a good location for day trips to Moers or Krefeld, for instance. Overall, not a fancy or a modern hotel, but very decent if you can book it at the right price.
