DumpVisited this hotel end of June ,dont even know where to start ! If you are British this is not for you ,we were only British in hotel ,staff spoke very little English . Rooms a dump infested with cockroaches and flying beetles , air con didnt work for 4 days till we finally moved hotel . Swimming pool filthy ,food cold and disgusting, diahora and sickness due to poor hygiene in restaurant. Soft drinks so disgusting I wouldnt allow kids to drink ! Alcoholic drinks ,didnt taste like what they were meant to be . Entertainment was none , WiFi only at reception even that was hit and miss . Do not go near this hotel you will end up sick .

THE MESSAGE FOR DIRECTOR OF THAPSUS!!!!I am unprejudiced so this review will be really objective one! I have been in this hotel for 4th times. But this time was really bad experience. To sum it up easily: management of this hotel obviously does not care how this hotel will going to end... which is a pity because the hotel beach and the sea are really amazing! Well, I am going to start this review with positive thing which appeared as an improvement of Thapsus. The food is much more better than in previous years! Meal is really tasty and the sortiment of food is wider! So it is a really positive stuff. BUT !!! most of guests had really big problems when check-in! We arrived to Thapsus at 23:55 local time. The receptionist told us that our rooms will be ready in 30 minutes. We were waiting and waiting.... From 30 minutes became 6 hours!!!! We have got our rooms (with the big quarrel ! ) around at 06:00 ! I have seen another guests and they were waiting at the reception with small boy nearly 11 hours!!!! I was so disappointed and really did not understand HOW can this kind of problems happens!!! Our delegate came to Thapsus to help us with the situation... He tried at last. He told us that this hotel has the problem with the rooms from the beginning of AUGUST! I really cannot understand WHY management of the hotel does NOT solve this problem ASAP!!! I had seen how many tourists have said: I WOULD NEVER COME BACK HERE! I have heard so many negative reviews and this is the way how THAPSUS will NOT prosper. THIS IS NOT FAIR and we all felt like we have been robbed. Whatsmore, we all are human and how we could have been just left at the reception without sleeping? With no interest of us?!! So this is what many guests hated about his hotel and never be back here. well the cleanliness was not good! Cleaning ladies was only changing our towels and bed sheets.. (despite the tips) ... Air condition was not working properly! AND only from 14:00 till 05:00 ! whatsmore it stinked... The sea is really amazing! The beach is nice, too!!!! BUT because of local beaches right next to Thapsus´s beach the problem with cleanliness of water went bad :-/ they were poo" inside the water ... so unfortunatelly because of some people this sea was not so amazing! Some people really do not care of the beauty of this planet!! Worker of this hotel were friendly Animation program : very poor Be careful of shopping in the hotel shop. 3x more expensive than in outside of hotel. There is shopping mall right to the oposite of the hotel. There are many cheap the goods. I recommend it. Well, you can still go shopping to centre of Mahdia there is a really big market . But when someone has stolen my camera there 5 years ago I did not want to go there again. So be careful of theft there. Many people are worried about the safety there. But it is really ok.

MrsGet what you pay for, we knew it was a cheap deal and to pay such little for peak time in August! Food was ok, disappointing that there was not bottled water available as we was never sure where the water was from and we were all poorly through the holiday which we believe to be from the water! Great A/C in bedroom which was a God send in 39 degree heat. Bedroom very clean and great cleaning staff. Other staff and service was average. The pool was amazing and the beach was stunning. Very safe and great security presence. Used the spa and was very well priced and staff were amazing and professional. My 3 year old loved the animals on site, like a mini farm, and loved to save some of his dinner to feed them!! Value for money yes. 3* rating yes. The Ritz no.

Brits Please Take Note - This Hotel is not for you!!!!!Just returned back from a week at the Club Thapsus. Whilst the hotel is slightly dated, it was clean and the grounds surrounding the hotel were beautiful, this was the only thing it had going for it. We were moved rooms 2 times, first time due to being placed in the incorrect room (after waiting 2 hours for this to become available) and the second due to the bathroom flooding. What i will say is the male reception worked did everything he could to move us ASAP and upgraded our room which we were grateful for. Please avoid the female receptionist, one of the most ignorant and rude people your likely to meet. The food was mediocre at best and certainly not catered for the British. We were the only British couple in the resort, with the remaining guests made up of Russians, Germans and French. I cant blame the hotel for this however again I've never met so many rude, ignorant, ill mannered people in my life than I have during my stay here. Bar staff and restaurant staff only there to look after the Russians and Germans, we were moved off tables in the restaurant simply because others wanted to sit there! If we were at the front of a queue at the bar, we would be made to wait until those behind us (Germans/Russians) had got their drinks. Beach was lovely as it was located at the end of hotel and as mentioned above, the grounds were beautiful. Be aware, if your not used to Arab countries, then brace yourselves. I wouldn't recommended leaving the resort if you were to venture here, especially if your female. We viewed reviews similar to this on here before we went but we just thought it was people having a little whinge about nothing but in fact everything we read was true. The only positives I would say were the animation team (Zizou and Maggie) both of which went out their way to help us when there was a language barrier between ourselves and other staff. We were also there during the Thomas Cook fiasco, and Zizou especially helped us massively to get transport back to the airport (transfer had been cancelled) and for that we were extremely grateful. The animation shows as a whole........not the best but the tried their hardest. Overall I wouldn't return to the hotel as its really not catered for British tourists. If you are looking to travel to Tunisia i would recommend Sousse or Monastir as thats where a lot of the Brits on our flight were staying and said they enjoyed it. Final note, if your looking for someone to book a holiday through, please avoid SunMaster. Nothing but trouble.
