A gorgeous setting - shame about the terrible staff. In being keen to get our custom (and pretending to understand English), the duty manager mistakenly agreed to give us a lovely room at a dirt cheap price. Unknowingly we couldn't believe our luck - until we got hit with a massive bill on checking out. They agreed to lower this a fraction, because of the misunderstanding, but we still paid over the odds for what we had planned to spend (we even stayed an extra night because of the deal we thought we were getting). The reception girl is a disgrace to the hospitality industry, she didn't care, was unprofessional trying to get us a cab to replace the one that she had sent away, which made us miss our ferry. Then there were no cabs to be found - the cab drivers want to be at the dock for when the ferry gets in so they get customers, so they won't work around your schedule. Next, the owners brother in law was visiting with his friends on the Friday night (which was our last night). They treated the place like it was their private holiday home. On the veranda, which was outside our room they smoked shisha, were loud and played their music until the early hours of the morning. I asked the staff to explain to them there are gusts in the hotel trying to sleep and tell them to turn down the music - but I think they were too scared to order the managers brother-in-law. In the end I went out and asked them to turn the music down which they did but they still didn't turn it off and you could hear their talking. Advice - get the price you agree to pay for the room in writing. Don't expect much from the staff, or rely on the staff to sort cabs out for you. In fact don't rely on cabs full-stop. Finally don't visit at the weekend when the owners family will treat the place like their private home. Still a tranquil setting and the apartment rooms are lovely.

Nice restaurantIt is a nice place to eat a fish and octopus meal in Sfax . Especially if the waiter who services you Mr. Anis who has a board smile and superior activity . Just there is a problem with the price:100 TD for 1 kg of fish! !!!!!

Tranquil TunisiaCercina Hotel is such a contrast to the giant package tour hotels of Sousse & Monastir. The setting is perfect. It is small and Kerkennah Islands in general are very quiet with not much to do apart from relax. The rooms at Cercina open directly onto the shallow sea, and there is a nice outdoor seating area beside each room. The restaurant seems to be one of the best on the island and gets groups arriving from nearby larger hotels. The octopus salad was amazing. It was nice watching workers from glowing oil field on the horizon, arrive back onshore during the meal. Reception were helpful in arranging cycle hire. Do your research before arriving here. It is so quiet and there is very little information or maps available once you get here. You might spend some time quite lost. It is worth seeking out the Roman Fort just 2km along the coast if you turn right at the hotel.

Stress reliefA must see or try or visit hotel, can't express how calm and refreshing the place is..incredible service, stress healing and a perfect attraction for sea food lovers. Totally will be coming back soon, as it became one of my favorite spots in Tunisia
