Reserved for a wedding weekendIt was about a block from where we parked (ample parking in the area, but I recommend booking that ahead). When we first entered I wasn't quite sure where my room was or the rooms of my travel companions. However, we walked through the hallway and figured out the layout and found our room on the first floor. Our room was a converted studio apartment (Liz Taylor theme) with a kitchenette and bathroom. We really enjoyed the sound system and the song selections available. The decor was also very fun. There were snacks/light breakfast items in the basement in the morning. I was pleasantly surprised and I would stay there again if I were visiting downtown Chicago.

Home Away From HomeI wanted to share my experience, since I've seen so many negative reviews for this property. By no means am I saying they're wrong, and would definitely take them into consideration when booking -- it sounds like I just got lucky. I didn't actually see the reviews until after I'd booked, and since my entire family was in town for a wedding, my backup plan was to crash in one of their hotel rooms if things didn't work out. But I booked my stay through Airbnb and had a great week. I got into town earlier than expected, so I emailed the owner to see if there was any way to check in early. They got back to me in minutes letting me know my room was already cleaned and ready for me. The Elvis room looked exactly like the pictures -- absolutely beautiful. There's a cute downstairs kitchen with pretty much anything you'd need to cook a meal (in-room kitchenette didn't have an oven). There were pastries, cereal, and fruit laid out each morning, and snacks/beverages throughout the rest of the day. Coffee is plentiful, and I'd sit outside on the patio each morning for a good half hour and never ran into another person. Rooms are definitely more pricey than I'd normally pay, so I definitely took advantage of the free breakfast and snacks. I also stopped by a grocery store to pick up enough food to make my own dinners as well, just to help offset the cost. But the entire experience was lovely. The block is residential and quiet, though super close to all the action -- walk one block to Lake Michigan, or one in the opposite direction to hit up State Street. I walked everywhere the entire week and never had an issue. The only thing I'm docking a star for was a strange experience on the day I arrived. Check-in was seamless and I was hanging out in my room when the owner (?) just walked into my room with another guest, no knocking, to show him what my suite looked like.

Refusal to provide refundHad lovely time at the property and all was well until the time for my $500 refundable deposit. Very communicative the entire process, although they demanded full payment 8 months in advance, until it was time for the refund. 11 contacts have been made and no response to my request. Terrible business practices

Renter BewareWe rented 67 E Cedar the first week of September. While the property is beautiful and the location is fabulous, there was black mold in one of the bathrooms and there were very few supplies. We had to bleach the walls of the shower and buy toilet paper. I was promised a 15% discount and they had someone come clean while we were there to relieve our inconvenience. After many phone calls and emails, I am still waiting on my security deposit refund and the 15% discount as promised. I have had ZERO response which prompted me to share this experience.
