  Allways worth the trip

  We are always very delighted when we com back. It is our special hide away. Excellent kitchen an very good assorte wine list. You should in any cas try the local wines from south tirol. Ask the sommelier for special advice an you will not be disapointed.

  High points offset by too many other negatives. Culinary destination only.

  Property is located a few miles up a narrow road on the side of a mountain so this is really a destination hotel, not convenient. It is indeed very quiet and private. The hotel was recommended to us by a group, but we would say it is not really worth the trip unless you happen to be in the area for some other reason. Restaurant is very high quality, but we felt overpriced. Service at the restaurant is spotty, sometimes very good and sometimes it felt like they ignored a guest's presence. We ordered a drink a couple times that took over 30 minutes to deliver. Why? Not because they are busy. The place was deserted but still it took ordering twice and waiting over 30 minutes. Very odd. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Spa is nice, but there was no attendant to show guests around so it felt very awkward. It was dark and lights are all on energy timers so it felt like haunted house at times, not a 5 star hotel. Finally, check your bill carefully. Twice they tried to bill us for things that were not our charges. It may have been an honest mistake, but unacceptable at a high end hotel to feel like you have to be on guard for erroneous charges, hardly relaxing. All in all we could not recommend this hotel.

  A Wonderful Place to be...

  From the minute you enter the gates of this property, you are transported into another world - a world where all of your senses are satisfied to the fullest.You are greeted upon arrival by a warm and friendly Reception, transported to the terrace cantilevered over the forest with an incredible view, then given a welcoming aperitivo and 'snack' to whet your appetite. You are then guided to an incredible and spacious room with forever views...each one unique...Spa facilities and choices abound...Dinners are a Delight...Fabulous selection of local wines (my preference)... what more could a person want?

  Not many as good this!

  The Castel Fragsburg is one of a kind. Privately owned by the Ortner family who reside on site and are happy to converse with guests. The position high above Merano affords exceptional panoramic views. The grounds are immaculate and gated, located amongst the hillside orchards and vineyards. The slightly quaint building has been built to give fabulous views from the restaurant and pool in the garden. Bedrooms seem to hang from the valley side. Food and drink is of the highest standard. An all together fabulous place. I cannot imagine the prices reducing so our only hope is that the pound gains some strength before our next visit.

  What an amazing experience

  we had at Castel Fragsburg. We traveled with our little baby, which is quite unusual for the place. However, all staff (from reception to restaurant) put a lot of effort into making our stay with baby perfect. Our baby could sleep in the separate sitting area of our suite, which was perfect and made our movements much easier. The food was delicious and the breakfast really made us feel like king, queen and little prince. I wish we could have stayed longer to try other things from the buffet. Views are breathtaking, wherever you look, whether outside or inside. We really enjoyed the sauna and the pool; our little one especially liked the whirlpool! A special note to muse Bellé, who we found a very beautiful and inspiring person, and of course a great yogi. All in all, a place where we definitely would come back to, but this time without child ;) Thank you Castel Fragsburg!
