  Great weekend getaway!

  Loved the place (and the town and forests). For our party of 3 got an older room as 'single' on 2nd floor (twin beds) and a newly renovated room as double on ground floor. The double is impressive for the price paid, with e.g. large bed, modern furniture, and bathroom has both tub and shower cabin; if not for the lack of coffee/tea making it would be worth 4-stars. Perfect soundproof windows, so any past review about train noise (it's nextdoor to the station and actually a converted old station building) is either outdated due to renovation or shows a princess-on-a-pea attitude. Breakfast good 3-star, with limited hot food; restaurant is a bit packed (too many tables for the limited, but atmosphere-rich, space). Dinner was included in halfboard and a decent set menu, apparently when it gets more busy replaced by buffet. Friendly staff, speaks also well enough English and Dutch.

  Rooms are nice and big

  We booked this hotel arrangement with a Bongo gift card. With this card we would have a three course meal, a room for 2 and breakfast. Parking (4,50) and 2x tourist tax not included. Room is great although the furniture is dated. Bed is excellent. Bathroom is also big. One issue is the toilet paper holder. Too low and too close to the knees. Three course mail: very very disappointing: first of all no choice! It's a fix menu: asparagus soup, fish and strawberry mouse. Weird that there is no option! We both rather eat meat or vegetarian than flat fish (Schol). We finally could get a schnitzel instead of the fish. Resulting in an extra fee of 5 pp. Not customer friendly! I'm still angry! So before booking...check the menu otherwise you'll be a cash cow!

  SWINDLERS

  We drove from Utrecht, 1 hour and 35 minutes, looking forward to a two-night stay in one of their 'romantic' rooms. Upon arrival they were full. I showed them my confirmed, non-refundable [!] booking, but to no avail. I booked this hotel, then plans changed and I cancelled, only to re-book within a few hours. Our initial booking was without breakfast, then I re-booked for a lower, non- refundable rate with breakfast. They clearly overrode the site we booked on and were shown the door without an apology or effort to accommodate us elsewhere, stating 'you cancelled, so we threw out your bookings', implying they were well aware of our second booking. This hotel should be renamed in B*llsh*t Hof.

  Great stay

  This is a great place to stay, easy acces from the freeway, the place is nice and very clean, the staff is nice and helpfull, the restaurant has great food and the breakfast buffet is complete. Nearby is a very nice castle to visit, it's a short walk from the hotel

  Pleasantly surprised

  We came here on a cheap package deal. And I was pleasantly surprised! This is a charming hotel with a lot of details that remind of trains. The hotel is right next to the Railway but surprisingly there is hardly any noise from the trains. The hotel is in an old building but everything is very well kept up. The breakfast was very good, with very nice bread. We had dinner once, it was included in our package and not bad at all. The hotel is 600 meters from Bentheimer Mineral Therme. The city centre is 2 kilometers. During our stay we visited the Bentheimer castle and Bentheimer Mineral Therme. The castle is really interesting and we found the Therme relaxing.
