Mrs HulmeMost of the staff completely and utterly rude and ignorant! The bar staff however very friendly! We had to put our skis and boots in our hotel room as no boot room! We had no doors on our shower and reported this but nothing was done! So we had a wet bathroom floor the whole holiday! Pool Sometimes cold!

Nothing majorly wrong but lots of minor nigglesWe stayed here for a week booked through Balkan Holidays on our first visit to Bansko. We chose it as it was close to the Gondola and looked like it had good facilities (spa, sauna, pool) for a reasonable price, we had a 2 bedroom self catering room but also opted for breakfast included as we thought that would set us up nicely for a days skiing. On arrival we were checked in and given our key (just one which with two sets of couples staying in the same room meant a little coordinating about who had the key when), they also requested our passports from us, we thought it was just to check them so when we stood there waiting for them back they then explained they needed to keep them for 15 minutes to copy them and we could come back for them in a bit, so we went off to find our room. We were in a different block to the reception and there was some initial confusion as to which way the receptionist had pointed us to to get there but we found it (it required going back out the reception doors and round the front to block F). When we got to our apartment the door was unlocked and I opened it to find two cleaners sat on the sofa, I'm not sure who was more surprised to see who! We went back to reception to give the cleaners time to finish in the room and collected our passports before heading back to the apartment with all our stuff. The apartment seemed nice, with a kitchenette area with fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, two hobs and a microwave, two bedrooms - one with twin beds and one with a double bed, a shower room, and a sofa and chair in a lounge area with the kitchenette. It was supposed to be a six person apartment but I think it would have been a bit cramped with 6 adults definitely but was the right size for 4. Although the initial impression of the apartment was good there were a few minor niggles that let it down, one of the wheels had fallen off one of the beds so that when you sat on the edge of it it wasn't stable, the shower doors on the shower were a bit temperamental and either didn't meet in the middle without some manoeuvring or fell off their runners and needed to be clipped back on, and just the general finish of things like the shower and towel rail let things down a bit (big holes in walls), loose fittings etc. The first night we cooked our own meal in the kitchenette - there's a supermarket 5 minutes walk from the hotel so very convenient for getting food/drink. We had one pot and a frying pan and enough utensils for cooking and eating a simple meal, kitchenette is missing teaspoons for avid tea/coffee drinkers and no cereal bowl type bowls but otherwise had enough (mismatched) plates/glasses/mugs for 4 (not sure a about 6 though). No washing up liquid/cloths/tea towels are provided so we had to buy what we needed for cleaning up from the supermarket too. On the second day we headed for breakfast, our first confusion was the timings, piece of paper at reception said breakfast started at 7.30am but the times on the breakfast block said from 8am, as we had an early start we weren't sure it was actually open when we got there and we hadn't been told the code for the door. We followed someone else in and I tried asking the staff checking room numbers as you arrived what the code a couple of times was but just got the response "Ok" and gestured into the restaurant. We later worked out ourselves the code was the same as the code to our block and actually there is another door to the left of the one with the entry code which is unlocked. Breakfast was a bit of a letdown, there was a good selection of hams and cheeses, what looked like a few hot items daily (that turned out to be mostly cold though), a couple of cereals and some sweet options (mini gateaus) as well as apples and oranges, some bread and a toaster and what looked like a couple of flavours of lumpy yoghurt. Nothing was labelled so you had to guess what things were and things like the juice machine seemed to be overly confusing (for something resembling orange juice you had to press the pineapple button, the one that looked like iced tea got you apple juice and the button with an orange on got you water that looked like it had run through some pipes that once contained orange juice). If you're self catered and thinking about whether it's worth including breakfast I wouldn't bother, get stuff from the supermarket and sort your own out, much nicer and if you just want toast much quicker. We tried the swimming pool and spa a couple of times, the swimming pool was a nice temperature and not too busy the first time we went, although suffers from the same slight shabbiness of the rooms, some of the mosaic tiles were missing from the bottom of the pool which left some sharp bits that I managed to take a bit of skin off a toe on. The Jacuzzi and saunas/steam rooms (there are a few) are downstairs, they were nice and tranquil on the first visit but we quickly abandoned our second visit as there were teenagers messing around, shouting, dunking each other and spitting in the Jacuzzi, which wasn't really the relaxing atmosphere we were after. We kept our ski gear in our room, there was a store room full of ski stuff on the way into the block but I'm not sure if that was the hotels hire equipment or if you had to pay extra to use it. We didn't try the shuttle bus either as the main benefit of the hotel is its proximity to the Gondola - about a 10 minute walk so we just walked to and from it each day. On our last night we found the games room, which had an air hockey table, a couple of pinball machines and some video games, the air hockey was fine but disappointingly neither of the pinball machines worked properly, which probably sums up the whole hotel, the facilities are all there but when you dig a little deeper they just don't work as well as they should, which is a shame because it could be a really great hotel but it seems to be happy with just good.

PerfectNice mountain hotel, very clean. Perfect location - close to the gondola, Old Town and the city in general. The food is great. The staff are kind. Spa great. We were with the kids and it was perfect for us. For each recommendation.

Great stay with some amazing viewsI would take some of these reviews with a pinch of salt: We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful, even though it was a time of anxiety with restrictions due to the virus just starting. Theres a lot of selection at breakfast, and a microwave if its warm enough for you; the coffee isnt the best, but its as much as you like; for the price I thought it was all very reasonable. Someone else said the place is good but could be great I would agree with that: All it would take is just a little bit more care and love in the room maintenance, and this place would be excellent.

Rude staffWe had a reservation but we cancelled it when we arrived at the venue because the receptionist was very rude and wasnt helpful with our questions. The main thing we hoped for was to be able to enter the room earlier but she didnt even seem concerned about our asking - she simply said We will expect you at 2.00 pm - didnt even bother to give us an option to put our luggage in a luggage room or to offer us a stay in the restaurant/cafe.
