  Friendly staff, good for the price

  Overall I enjoyed my stay here. The staff was quite friendly and I didn't find my in ability to speak Japanese to be a problem. The rooms are average-sized -- in other words, very small but as to be expected in a downtown area. There was a bit of an odor to the rooms -- even non-smoking. They have air purifiers and you can open the windows to take care of some of that. Also some sort of spray that I didn't discover until I was checking out, and therefore didn't use. Generally clean, but the bedspread seemed a little natty. View was of a back of a building. Breakfast was included and I thought it was pretty good.

  Very smoky hotel

  The location was somewhat convenient, about a 10min walk from the main train station. The main problem with the hotel was that it was VERY smoky -- when the elevator door opened, the smell of cigarette smoke (both new and old) hit you in the face like a ton of bricks. They said they had non-smoking rooms, but they are very limited (and there was no floor that wasn't smoky, so there clearly are not non-smoking floors). The sheets and pillows even smelled of cigarette smoke.

  OK for short stay

  I stayed here for 5 nights while doing some work at Tohoku University. Good points: close to station, subway, university, reasonably roomy, washing machines, reliable internet. Shortcomings: limited breakfast options, first night I was put in a smoking to om although I asked for non-smoking, seems to be used by school groups, so lots of awkward teenagers.

  Convenient location with decent amenities.

  Our room was a decent size, by Japanese standards, it was fairly clean, the staff was helpful, and there was a modest (average) restaurant on-site. The location was excellent, just a short, invigorating walk to Sendai Station and our conference center. I loved the covered outdoor mall that we walked through on our way to the conference center. The streets of Sendai are clean, the restaurants in the area (particularly nearer the station) offer excellent lunch specials. We found a few very nice dinner spots on our route between the hotel and the conference center. We walked everywhere on this trip. While the hotel is not right at the station, it was walkable, and affordable (compared to the fancier Metropolitan, and other similar hotels, nearer the station). The mattresses, though... rock hard.

  Good Value, good for backpackers, students or people need only very basic stay

  The price is GOOD value, Good for backpackers, students or people need only very basic stay. Location is good and convenience, 10-12 minutes walk to station. The 5th, 6th and 7th are non-smoking floors. Clean, Very basic amenities, single bed rooms look like dormitories. Breakfast is a VERY simple set (choose one of 3 styles, if you choose Japanese rice set, you can ask to refill another bowl of soup). There is a mini refrigerator, a kettle and only 2 tea bags in room - bring your own instant coffee. 5 minutes walk to AEON supermarket, you can get already cooked food for your lunch or dinner, after 7 pm most of the cooked food are 20-50% off. Dasio is only 2 minutes walk across another exit door from AEON. Recommend to people whom need only basic stay, and want to save money for shopping.
