Excellent location, beautiful hotel and wonderful staffWe enjoyed our stay and had a perfect view of the river and the battleship. Everyone was so kind and helpful. It is very easy to walk to dinner locations and you are literally on the rover walk. We will definitely come back.

DisappointedIve stayed at this hotel several times. Stayed when it was just Hilton and this is my second stay since it became Hotel Ballast and it will probably be my last time. We stayed three nights and they only served breakfast on Friday and Saturday morning only, and for what you are paying each night I expect better. The staff are friendly and I have no problem with them but the place is going downhill. The steps from the street to the lobby area are full of leaves, you could tell no one had cleaned them in awhile. The A/C wouldnt come on so I had to turn off the system to keep the room from getting too hot. But the biggest thing I had a problem with are the beggars hanging around the hotel, for two nights the same man was outside asking the guests for money or cigarettes. There appeared to be no security around the place. What it comes down to, is if I want Motel 6, Ill go there and save money. Now I dont know what has caused the decline in service, but the next time Ill go to the Embassy Suites or the Hampton Inn down the road. Maybe Ill get the service that I expect for the price charged.

Location and ViewBuilding reminds me of my freshman dorm but lobby was refurbished in a good way. Main appeal is this is exactly where you want to be. The river view rooms have the best possible view of the battleship memorial quite impressive. A surprise was the excellent lower level bar with a wonderful bartender but hours are limited. $15 parking fee additional to room price.

Nice room but not much elseI chose this hotel for a girls getaway because of the outdoor seating area featuring 6 portable tower heaters and a large gas fire pit. We are taking Covid seriously and are not eating inside and even though its chilly we would like to be able to hang out on the waterfront. When we called the hotel to make sure their bar and restaurant were functioning we were told they were. When we arrived they were definitely not. Both the bar and restaurant had been closed for Covid and I have no idea why the person who answered the phone said otherwise. This was a huge inconvenience and resulted in us having to walk to pick up food and eat it back in the room. It meant no outdoor seating and no room service. It was SUPER annoying to have been told the bar and restaurant would be fully available. We chose this instead of an air bnb solely for this amenity. There is a Ruths Chris on the property but since there is a raging pandemic going on, we did not eat in there. The check in and check out are contactless and easy through the Hilton app however the check out time is now 11, even though inside the hotel it is posted as noon. No one will tell you this so, be prepared to be out at 11. The view was listed as historic downtown view or something like that but it was a view of construction, some portapotties, and a rusted rooftop. The hotel is walking distance from downtown and some waterfront restaurants. No one ever answered the phone when we called the front desk to request more so we only had enough coffee in the room for one morning. We had to go to the lobby where maskless guests congregated and they charged $2.50 for terrible coffee. There is a small convenience market thats pretty nice and has good selection of snacks and drinks. The lobby was the only time we saw other guests so we felt like we were able to do a good job avoiding people. The bathroom was tiny and and not comfortable in any way, shape or form. The sink is a shallow rectangle that has only about 3 between the tap and the basin, when you wash your hands its almost impossible to not touch to basin which defeats the purpose of washing your hands. It was fine for a couple of days but the kind of thing that gets old fast. And the water in the shower just never got truly hot. There are shampoo and conditioner and body soap in a dispenser in the shower which is nice. Other than that, we had a suite and it was nice if not on the small side. The TVs are not smart so bring a Roku if you care about that. There is a large dorm style fridge in the suite, there is not dining table of any kind. The mattresses and pillows were excellent so that was nice.

AverageCalled ahead of time to ask a question and was put on hold and never received an answer. Walls are paper thin. Could hear all sorts of noises on either side of us and in the hallway. I have stayed in hotels around the world and this is just average. The noise is definitely a issue.
