    Simply awful

This wasnt the worst hotel I have stayed at, but it was undoubtedly the worst hotel experience. Check in took 45 minutes, because there was only one person working and there were no rooms ready. This was at 6pm. There was still a line twenty strong and another twenty people waiting for rooms at 11pm. Talking to those waiting, they said that some guests even cleaned and made up their own rooms because they were waiting so long. The following evening, it was exactly the same. One person working (who was rude to everyone) and no management in sight. The morning I checked out, there was a man asleep on a sofa in the lounge area. Not sure if hed been there all night. I told the front desk clerk that I was checking out and that the toilet in my room was broken. Her only response was, ok. This is simply a dreadful hotel. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Stay at your perilmy strong recommendation is to look elsewhere.

    Worst Experience Ever

Horribly bad experience, booked this place for my family for my graduation in Dec 2019. I booked 3 rooms, none were ready by 7 pm when we arrived to Lubbock, check in time was at 4!!! Some people had been there since 4 pm waiting for hours. We got keys to one room but were told it was not clean, when we went to look at it there were undergarments and inappropriate things all around the room.We went out to eat dinner came back around 11 pm THE ROOMS WERE STILL NOT READY!! They were extremely rude employees with no manager, my family left when they overheard people from another room had found needles in their room, absolutely disgusting. Save yourself time and money

    Tragic

I have been a Hotels.com Rewards member since December 14, 2014. Since then, I have purchased multiple hotel reservations via Hotels.com based on the pictures and reviews therein and have had nothing but great experiences until now. On December 1, 2019, I made a reservation for my family to stay at Hotel Ava in Lubbock, TX for 6 nights. As always, I looked at the pictures and read the reviews on Hotels.com to ensure that this would be an acceptable place for our family to stay. Hotel Ava had 3 stars and I thought it would be good to help the local economy by using a local hotel instead of a national chain. However, upon our arrival on December 23, 2019, I quickly realized that this hotel was nothing like that shown on Hotels.com and that I had made a mistake. Here is an itemized list of grievances based on our experience at arrival: 1.Entrance to our building had beer cans and what smelled like a pool of urine near the trash receptacle 2.Entrance to our building had what smelled like large pools of urine on the right side of the entrance 3.Walls/doors throughout interior of the building have visible damage 4.Bar area has multiple wires hanging from the ceiling and is not functional 5.Fitness room cardio equipment is far older than that shown online 6.When we opened the door to our room, we immediately noticed that the desk surface was partially destroyed and that we were given a king bed instead of the two queen beds that we had reserved.

    Do not book this place!

This hotel is by far the worst place ever. I do not understand how it is operating like this. Hotel rooms are awful they do not look like the pictures. Sheets are dirty, pillows have stains, it smells horrible. Not to mention the restrooms have mold and have dirty towels. Receptionist is rude and staff is not professional. Please look somewhere else!

    A HORRIBLE DAY

I recently stayed at the hotel Ava during a family emergency. The room I got had no TV and the ceiling in the bathroom was talking in. The telephone didn't work and there was no toilet paper. Oddly enough there was also tubing for a catheter in the bathroom as well. When I got to the front desk and informed the clerk about the state of the room, I was informed that the rooms on the outside didn't have all of the appliances in them and she would be unable to say as to the condition of those rooms because they were reserved for the online reservation guests. I then told her about the ceiling in the bathroom that was falling in. She looked at me and asked so did you want a new room. I then was on the longest 3 hours of my life I was switched into 6 different rooms 3 of those already had been rented to other guests, 2 wouldn't open due to the locks being broken. I'd had enough when I was checked into a room that had not been cleaned yet and I volunteered to clean it for them because by this time it was quite clear there was a huge problem. I finally was checked into my original room and I cleaned the ceiling cave in but had no towels in the room whatsoever. I let the manager on duty know about the fiasco the next morning. He apologized profusely and gave me a discount on my next night. I needed to be in that area about a week due to my daughters funeral. Yet when I returned to check-in another manager turned me away saying he would be requiring an additional deposit of 150 in cash no matter how I paid for my night and he was charging me 150 a night as well. When I said I didn't want to rent there for that price he asked well why not those are our prices and I'm just charging f you fairly. I said no I'd go to motel 6 instead bc they obviously didn't have thier act together I just had burried my daughter and I wasn't up for another 3hour search for a room. This was an aweful experience on top of one of the most horrible experiences a parent has to face. Don't rent here unless you enjoy renting trouble.
