    Relaxing stay in Normandy

We returned to the Moyne de Saire for the 2nd time to enjoy their hospitality. The Hotel is a good centre for the top on the Normandy peninsular, and the owners could not be more helpful. The rooms are bright and comfortable with lovely views over their gardens. The French breakfasts were fresh, delicious and plentiful. We really enjoyed our return visit.

    Disappointing

I have stayed in this hotel for one week in April 2019. Rooms and facilities are OK for a 3-star hotel, but it seems like in the absence of competition these people have forgotten what customer service is. First couple of days I ate at the restaurant but then I wanted to have my own wine in the room and got a raised eyebrow for asking for a cork screw. I also purchased a set of wine glasses to bring home and I used two of them for drinking wine in my room - and one day they disappeared. The administrator had removed my property from the room for reasons not entirely clear to me, maybe they thought it would make me buy wine from them? Then I wanted to relocate to another hotel closer to Cherbourg (it was a business travel so I had to drive to Cherbourg every morning) - and I was not allowed to check out. The administrator told me she could not do anything and that I needed to contact my travel agency and cancel the booking. So I did, but the travel agency said it was up to the hotel. I gave up trying to explain it in English to the hotel administrator and stayed, and later during chit-chat the administrator admitted she could actually cancel my booking. So I was forced to stay in this hotel. Later I was not allowed to have breakfast because I did not let them know the evening before and they hadn't prepared it. However I did let them know at check-in that I would be having breakfast every day, and it's a BUFFET breakfast, so nothing to prepare... It is worth mentioning that I travel a lot for work and stay in numerous hotels. This is one of the worst experiences I've had in the last 6 years.

    Wonderful hotel

This was a one night and unplanned stay. The hosts were charming, the room spacious, clean and calm with required (and expected) level of comfort. We enjoyed as well a really good dinner at the hotel's restaurant. Do not hesitate to converse with the owners (or the rest of the staff), since they all are very friendly people to talk to. Our recommendation: if you are looking for a nice place to stay, the moyne de saire is definitely a good choice. In addition, the prices are affordable, and if you have a car, there are plenty of things to visit. Sonia and Thierry

    Good Value. Warm Welcome.

We decided to take a short break on the east side of the Cotentin peninsula - picturesque, and historical, little ports like St Vaast-la-Hougue and Barfleur and miles of leafy lanes to get lost in. Having booked the Hotel au M de S in advance we had expected a slightly larger version of a B&B. What we got was an impressively modernised and deservedly popular family-run hotel on the main street of this small village. The welcome and service throughout our stay were particularly warm. The restaurant didn't disappoint either. Two menus are offered - one at 29.50 with more options, especially of seafood and the other at 20.50 We had the latter, not because we are particularly tight-fisted but often prefer smaller portions. In fact there were 3 starters, 2 main courses and 3 desserts and the portions were generous, looked good on the plate and were tasty.. This is a deservedly popular hotel with a large car park - which was full every night - so it is necessary to book in advance during the extended season. We were given a bedroom with a door leading off the street just adjacent to the hotel entrance - presumably one of the last rooms - and my wife felt I ought to mention the traffic noise; but this is a small village and it was quiet after 11pm and , we had very comfortable beds.

    Very comfortable little hotel!!

We've just had 3 nights at this hotel as part of a Brittany Ferries mini-break. It is a very well-run and comfortable hotel with lovely food served in the restaurant, and very attentive staff!! We stayed in two different rooms as Madame moved us to a garden room for our 2nd and 3rd nights. The room in the main hotel was obviously smaller and looked out onto the road which was busy but quietened down later in the evening. It also overlooked the church, the bells ring every 15 minutes but miraculously finished at 10 pm and started again at 7 am, very civilised!! The bed was a good size and the bathroom very well equipped with everything working beautifully. The garden room was every bit as well equipped and more spacious with a lovely little patio area in the garden. We had 3 evening meals in the restaurant whilst watching the goings-on in the street outside, all of which were delicious and reasonably priced, with an amazing choice of menus or a la carte, plus well-priced wines, but then this is France so it's no more than you would expect, but in a small hotel in a tiny village??? The menus are all on the website so we checked it all out before we went!! The buffet breakfast was also well up to par with fresh fruit salad, good coffee and juices, and of course, absolutely fresh bread and croissants, just as you would expect!! All in all, a perfect place to stay when exploring the Utah beach area, or the stunning north-west coast of the Cotentin peninsula, which so many British people miss as they speed south to the sun!!
