    I love this hotel

This review is target for foreigners who wish to travel to Japan, since information is quite inadaquate. I booked this hotel 21 days before check in which is at 3800yen per night. I stay 2 nights here and found it is very good. Since i travel by long distance bus, it only took me 5-10 mins to walk from station to hotel. It is closed to the dining area where you could found a lot of excellent local food with very affordable price. The hotel provides even DHC shampoo, shisedo facewash so you don't need to bring anything. If you wish to walk to the JR station, it will took a bit longer say 20 mins. but you could always travel by bus (around 3 stops.) The room size is OK for japanese hotel. I would like to recommend it for those who wish to travel to Miyazaki.

Dirt cheap and everything works well

They have so many WiFi spots within the hotel, and that just doesn't happen in many hotels in Japan although it's 2014. Incredibly cheap and clean rooms. The bathroom was small but it doesn't bother me so it's perfect. Who can have a room for price like $3500? They had a parking nearby for $800 as well. It was a great option for two of us although we were a little worried because it was too cheap to be true.

    Low cost high value

The hotel has a cheap price, but is run exceptionally well. I was very happy to use one of their bikes for two days which made getting around the city very easy -- biking to the beach was easy also. Be warned that they have two "mama chari" bikes that are set up for shorter people. However, having a bike made my stay so nice. The breakfast was much better than expected; one morning they had tenpura tara no me (wild vegetable). I didn't even find the curry and rice until my final day (three nights total). I spent three days there and did not get tired at all of the breakfast. The little fridge in the room was useful and the place was kept clean. I used the a/c so my sleep there was perfect. The light controls are on the bed which is great for reading at night. The bathroom is tiny, but it is all you need. If I get back to Miyazaki I will stay at the Areaone for sure -- was a totally enjoyable stay. You can take a bus from the airport for 380 yen that drops you off 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

There Must be Better in Miyazaki!

The Hotel AreaOne had a lot of positives, however the negatives ensure that if we're ever in Miyazaki again, we'll be looking for alternate accommodations. The Good: Cheap! Walking distance to restaurants, and the train/bus station. Very friendly service from the front desk. Parking available. Controllable AC. Good WiFi. Excellent breakfast buffet! The Bad: From the moment you walk in to the hotel and into the overwhelming smell of air fresheners, you know something's wrong. And, sure enough, once we got to our non-smoking room we understood the need for so many air fresheners! Our room constantly smelt like there was someone in our bathroom chain smoking as it seems the ventilation system was bringing cigarette smoke in from the smoking rooms. The rooms were also in rough shapethey were clean, but the beds were very old, with features (such as the clock) that didn't work anymore. The bed and pillows were also the most uncomfortable of our trip, though still satisfactory. The other downside is no fault of the hotel's, but worth mentioning anyway! Every night, from the window in our room we watched a steady stream of johns being matched up with prostitute sup the street. While this provided some entertainment from the room, it made it uncomfortable to go walking anywhere after 8:30pm. In conclusion, we could get over the older, slightly uncomfortable room for the cheap price, awesome breakfast, and friendly service--if it weren't for the cigarette smoke--neither of us are smokers, so it pretty much meant that anytime we were in our room we had a headache. So, if you are a smoker, I definitely recommend this place, it is good value, but if you are like us and cannot handle the smell of cigarettes, you definitely need to continue on your hotel search!

Friendly Staff and fairly good value for money -

This is one of the two Area One Hotels in town, just a little further away from downtown. It is located close to Virginia Beach Square and the pedestrian Area. The hotel is clean, rooms (like always in Japan) are fairly small. Several powder drink options (coffee, tea, soup) are available at the reception area. Breakfast is not bad & a combination of Japanese and International.
