  Beautiful and comfortable, hidden treasure

  The views are spectacular. Food is amazing, grounds are beautiful. More importantly, my husband became ill and had to be hospitalized. The family couldn't have done more for us. They were wonderful! It was a scary experience not speaking the language, having my husband ill and being far from home. The family did everything they could to help us, including driving him to the hospital, extending our stay, etc. If we ever return, I wouldn't hesitate to return to this hidden treasure.

  Beautiful hotel & terrace with mountain & seaviews and everything you can wish for

  It was a return stay for me and also this time the Ape Regina was the best possible choice we made for a number of reasons. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the beds are very comfortable. The water pressure is good and breakfast is abundant, with lots of homemade pies, jams, pastries and also cold cuts for those who prefer cheese and meat. What makes the place so special is are the 3 members of the Mattera family that run it and the care and love they put into caring for the guests and their surroundings. There are beautiful plants everywhere and the swimming pool is nice and very clean too with sunbeds. We really enjoyed the views that you have from the terrace and the rooms that come with a balcony. Beautiful sunsets, you see both the sea and the mountains. And I can recommend the Negroni's to enjoy the view with (housewine is good too, and of course they have softdrinks too) so if you want nature, peace and relaxation there is not really a reason to leave the hotel. However, Ischia is a beautiful island so we did a lot of sightseeing, which the Ape Regina makes an excellent base for. We rented a motorbike (which Giuseppe helped arrange) and it took s 5 mites to be in Casamicciola/Lacco Ameno. It is also worth exploring areas such as Serrara Fontana and Barano and clim Mt Epomeo. With your own wheels any destination can be reached within 30 minutes. If you don't bring wheels, there is a busstop close to the hotel and buses run every hour. We liked the fact that we were in nature and could reach (night)life in a few minutes if we wanted to. We did have dinner in the hotel om 6 of the 7 nights we stayed because it was so good (it is not a la carte, in the morning you can choose from 2 or 3 starters/maine courses). All is homemade, very tasty and abundant. It is not a restaurant with waiters, cooking and table service is done by 2 persons so dinner starts at 20h00. We enjoyed the explanations about the origins of the food and its preparation, and the suggestions that were given if we asked for them. We are very happy with the time we got to spend at the Ape Regina and the 5 star treatment we were given. We hope to return!

  Great Stay. Lovely Hotel

  Charming family run hotel in the hillside just above Casamicciola. The hotel is homely, comfortable and spotlessly clean, with a lovely outside terrace to enjoy your aperitivi. The views are spectacular. The best part of this hotel though is the family that run it. My family were all made to feel extremely welcome by the Matteras and nothing was too much trouble for them. They even very kindly offered and gave us lifts when the local bus wasnt quite as efficient as it should have been! Thank you Guiseppe and family for a lovely stay. We hope to return to beautiful Ischia as soon as we can, and we would not hesitate to return to Ape Regina.

  Amazing hotel

  Stayed here for few days, we moved to this hotel last minute as the hotel we booked was awful. The staff here we're so friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an amazing location with great views. There is a local business that stops 5 metres from the hotel and runs into the local town.
