Very pleasant stay in lovely location

We spent five nights in the apartment here. It was clean and comfortable with plenty of space to sit outdoors in the afternoon sunshine. The view of the lake/fountain was lovely and you are surrounded by lovely green trees. Breakfast was great with plenty to eat and the meal we had in the restaurant was good too. Staff were friendly although not all speak any English. This hotel take visa but we found that hardly any of the other restaurants in Bad Bertrich did so take plenty of cash! Very enjoyable stay.

Excellent hotel in a beautyfull place

I could not find anything wrong with this hotel. The room was great. It was clean and well kept. The restaurant was very good. Some might say the choice on the menu was little, but it was all good and cooked with attention to detail. The breakfast service was EXCELLENT. The lady who served you coffee would ask you how you would like your eggs and make them fresh for you. All breakfast food was fresh. No question was too much for the staff AND the owner. Very friendly staff and helpful in any way. I rate it a 10 out of 10 Maybe one minor point. The room did not have a watercooker or coffeemaker. But that's personal to me since I like my coffee.

    Nice and quiet hotel

Idyllic location, next to a swan pond and a park; Nice big and quiet room (room 10). Close to Vulcaneifel Thermen, and within 30 - 60 min of Trier, Cochem and Daun. The breakfast was OK, the dinner was also OK, but you shouldn't pick this hotel for it's haute cuisine... There was though a veeery big choice in cakes...

AVOID AT ALL COSTS: Reception desk closed on a Saturday at 9:30pm and no one around to get hold of the room keys

After a long day of driving through Germany with a couple of friends - and a couple of laps around the Nurburgring - we turned up at the hotel at 9:30pm only to find out that the staff had deserted the hotel: no one at the reception, no one in the kitchens, no one in the various corridors, no one anywhere. We had booked 2 rooms back in February this year and the booking mentioned that the reception will still be open until at least 8pm and also included a couple of phone numbers to call if no one was to be found upon arrival. I have no issue with the reception desk being closed after 8pm (although this is not a common practice, especially in such a remote place literally lost in the middle of nowhere), but I would have expected my room keys to be left in an envelope at the reception desk, like most hotels do in case of a late arrival (can 9:30pm be even considered as a late arrival?). The biggest disappointment was not being able to get in touch with anyone over the phone. Bear in mind that Bad Bertrich is a (lovely and really quiet) tiny village (ca. 1,000 inhabitants) miles and miles away from any modern civilization and I wouldn't consider stopping there for anything else than spending the night i.e. expected time of arrival 8pm++ unless your plan is to talk to trees or die of boredom. The other hotels nearby were all fully booked and the restaurants all closed. We therefore ended up driving another 45min to Trier to find the closest hotel with 2 bedrooms available. As of today, I have been exchanging emails with the hotel manager for a week asking for a refund. Unsurprisingly, the hotel professionalism being what it is, this refund has still not happened. On the plus side, the hotel has got a car park. It is open-air and not secured but it is still worth mentioning. This is actually the only bit that we got to try for ourselves. Still, do yourself a favor: avoid this hotel.

Nobody answers the phone. Closed early!

The location is perfect if a little remote. We arrived before posted closing times. The hotel was dated and the parking facilities were very busy. We manage to squeeze on the end but moved it to a different location in the end. Overall the place reminded me of a hostel I stayed in when I was young.
