  Enjoyable stay

  We had a very enjoyable stay at Hotel am Scholssberg in Ziegenrueck. The property has a 1960s DDR feel to it, although not in a bad way. We were allocated a two bedroom suite on the third floor. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and well equipped and had a balcony looking out over the river. The hotel restaurant is large with a reasonably extensive dinner menu. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Would have liked to have stayed longer but we were only there for one night. Will definitely return sometime in the future.

  Great hospitality in a beautiful setting

  Herr Marx and his family and staff are perfect hosts. Always friendly, always so helpful, always interested in my comfort and my needs. Outstanding restaurant! The breakfast selection was extensive, high quality, and delicious. Dinners were excellent. Rostbrätel is a Thüringen specialty. The noodles with spinach and salmon was great too. Scenic! My room has a balcony with a view of the river Saale. At night the sound of the river was calming and restful. The town is also very charming. Herr Marx rented me an e-bike (I appreciated the electric assistance on the many hills!) and made sure that I had a helmet that fits properly. Clean! Everything sparkled. My germaphobe daughter was impressed by the photos.

  Nice hotel in an excellent location

  We just stayed for a quick overnight on a Saturday night. Large room, off road parking for the motorcycle,and comfortable. Extra pillows would be helpful. Restaurant had a fair limited menu, but was good quality and excellent service from helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent buffet style, with a good selection of meats, cheese and local breads, plus fruit and cereal. Thanks for a great but brief stay!
