  Great appartment hotel in Wismar

  We stayed three nights in this appartment hotel. We had asked for an appartment with view on the old port, and got exactly that. Which meant we slept in another building across the street: the "Altes Zollhaus". It was a very spacious room with sitting corner and kitchen corner. The beds were good quality. Good quality breakfast. No restaurant. But very good quality Italian restaurant in ground floor of the "Altes Zollhaus". Breakfast staff was very friendly, but the lady we met at reception (Ms. Wobig) definitely was not. Free Wifi, but code had to be renewed every 24h. And since we were staying in the building across the street, we had Wifi access in our room, but not in the breakfast room which was located in the hotel itself. Walking distance (10-15 minutes) to city center.

  Good hotel in nice location

  Hotel is located in touristic historical part of Wismar by the old port area. Old town centre is within walking distance. Rooms are 80's fashion but comfortable. Reception service is very nice, polite and profession. You can leave a car at city car park which is free of charge between 19:00 and 9:00.

  Looks nice, but offputting on the 'phone

  I don't normally write tripadvisor reviews and I have not stayed at this hotel which looks very inviting. Given the unfriendly, even rude response (speaking German, so not lost in translation) I just had on the 'phone, I would not want to stay there.

  Nice hotel with great location

  I stayed one night in this hotel, the location is perfect, a few minutes walk from the train and bus stations, across the street from the harbor and at the entrance of the old town. The Single Room was quite big, with view on the harbor, big bathroom with a large shower cabin, but the bed was quite narrow. Staff was friendly, decent price, the breakfast was OK, typical German buffet, nothing special but good. The windows are not at all soundproof, I could hear what was going on in the street, it could be a problem during the high and warm season.

  Think Before You Book!

  This is a really nice hotel but I would not stay there again or recommend it due to the really poor internet connectivity; the last time I had internet as bad as this I was over in Vietnam! Not quite sure how it could be so bad in a modern country like Germany? The staff were freindly and the room, although dated in its style was really nice, warm and comfortable. The hotel is quaint as it appears to be configured from a number of different old properties and the parking is fine if you book a garage space. For me a big issue was the really poor internet connection; we only had a couple of hours connectivity over the 2 nights that we stayed but even that was slow and flaky. Really useless, spoke with other guests over breakfast and they had the same issue that you could reach the hotel router but the internet connection was down. The other issue was the breakfast as on the second morning there were no white rolls and as I have dietary requirements I was left with having to go elsewhere later. It was however really good quality and my wife enjoyed it on both mornings.
