  A lovely boutique hotel

  I had the pleasure of spending two nights at this lovely inn, which is nestled in the town above Karlovy Vary. Its interior design, style, and accommodations are stylish and beautiful. Very nice breakfast complement, both hot and cold. Nice outdoor cafe (weather permitting). Just a very short cab ride into the center of town. Very friendly staff. Exceptionally clean. Excellent value for the money.

  Beautiful hotel in Karlovy Vary

  We were stopping by Karlovy Vary on the way to Dresden to sleep and eat for the evening. Hotel was easy to find on a main street, though not in the restaurant area of town (should be a quick taxi or even a nice walk if the temperature was right-we had a car already). The room was very clean and had a very nice design of polished wood paneling. Very comfortable. Staff was awesome. Very kind, and the fact they spoke a variety of languages seemed to help (Czech, German and English at least, not sure if others). They were helpful in letting us know where the area with the restaurants are. The only downside I can see, is there is no dedicated parking. It is road parking. Road parking is free. I personally had no problems parking (parallel), but I could see during a busier time this being more difficult. I parked at night twice (once getting to the hotel late, and once after eating even later).

  Lovely boutique hotel

  We stayed in Hotel Alfred several times and find it always a pleasant stay. The rooms are decent size and very comfortable. The staff always very helpful and friendly. It is situated not far from the town centre (about 10 to 15 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by car). They serve a buffet breakfast with lots of choice of savoury or sweet foods. There is a nice restaurant just across the road so easy to find lunch or an evening meal. There are frequent buses to and from the town centre and spa zone.

  We didn't expected much for this price point, but what we got was.. surprising. Not in a good way. We were welcomed by a very unprofessional looking lady, who didn't speak any other language than Czech. After I gave my name, she handed us a key and pointed where the breakfast area is. That was the check in, no documentation, no info. Rooms were okay, clean and tidy, although small and stuffed with a little too much furniture for its size. Hotel was overall clean. Later that evening we were handed check-in forms to fill. And when we asked for the sauna, steam rooms and all of the offered "spa and wellness services" the answer was just "no no no". The lady ( same from earlier ) was drinking wine behind the front desk and she was stinking like alcohol..... Breakfast took place in the hotel bar, which was also not working the night before. Poor choice, low quality, uncomfortable feeling. Still the same lady on duty. So of course won't come back, won't recommend. Just keep on looking.
