    Decent choice in Flims

    We stayed at the Soldanella, which is the Annex of Hotel Adula, over the new year holiday period. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The room is spacious and cosy, with great views of the mountains. The breakfast was scrumptious and the staff in the restaurant was excellent. We also find the staff in the wellness area and the reception friendly and helpful. The only reason we did not give this review a 5 star was because of an unpleasant experience at the new year's dinner, when the staff at the entrance of the restaurant had difficulty finding us a table when we had made a reservation. The way it was handled was awkward. However, once we got going with the dinner, it was actually enjoyable and the food was delicious. We will definitely stay at the hotel again in the near future.

    Not a 4+ star hotel

    My partner and I experienced a disappointing stay in this hotel for following reasons: 1. Overall the personell was perceived as rather unfriendly and not aligned. E.g. there were mistakes in the reservations and bills. Nothing was explained or recommended to us at check-in (spa and breakfast times, kitchen closing time, need for early reservation at the restaurants), which gave rise to further misunderstandings. 2. Our double room had only two separate twin beds and no balcony. When asked to have a double bed they told us that the only double bed in the hotel is in the 6-people suite. The furnishing of the rooms was rather outdated and not at a level of a 4 star. There were also no explanatory information/booklet/QR code to scan in the room. 3. Restaurants were in our opinion overpriced, nothing special, portions were small and room service was charged 10CHF per person! 4. The kitchen closes at 9.30 pm but it's not written anywhere. When asked to the bar-personell where we could find this information the answer was "I am telling you now" 5. The breakfast was very basic, nothing special. To order beverages and eggs we had to ask proactively for it. In the breakfast menu its written that there is fresh-pressed tomato juice but its not true, in fact they dont offer it at all. 6. the service, ambience and decoration of the hotel did not match by far our expectation of a 4 star superior. 7. the spa area was overall satisfactory, however the jacuzzi outside activated bubbles and massage jets only one at a time, which was a bit frustrating.

    Could be nice hotel but financial optimization beats service and quality.

    We have been in the hotel for two nights. In total we spent over 3000 CHF and experienced the following (starting with positive): Room is nice and has ample space, design is nice. Minbar is included and the spa treatments were good. The dining room for half-board was nicely decorated and we received water bottles for the way home. This is where the positive ends as the following was also a reality: Chairs in dining room broken (not one but several), play room for kids costs 2 CHF per 5 minutes for the games. Garage is miles away from ski room and rooms (without accessible help) - makes unloading/loading very hard. Zero extras which would be normal for 4 star hotels. Spa is very crowed as they currently are loading the hotel with special deals for some guests starting at 119 CHF per night. This is visible in terms of some of the guests. There is no rental for sledges or similar. The room was dirty under the bed (we even found a pair of socks from a previous guest ...) Timing for our dinner was wrongly communicated and also the price of the room changed (more expensive) without notification. The food is mediocre at best, including a breakfast which is uninspiring. Restaurant service slow, inexperience and below standards. There is clearly a lack of attention to anything the guest might experience as nice token ie in the room there is a coffee machine but only decaffeinated pads, zero nibbles with any drinks in the bar area (not even peanuts ...), no welcome drink. Last but not least my husband was left behind by the shuttle at the ski station and had to walk. We will not return and considering what we paid, the stay was very unsatisfying. As we have seen that sometimes management answers to these reviews: Please do not waste time on a defensive answer. Either this is a wake-up call to upgrade the service to the prices you ask, or eventually people will just stop writing reviews and not come again. This is supposed to help you to improve and not to convince us. We will not make another attempt to come to the Adula as there a lot of other brilliant hotels in the Flims/Laax area.

    Look at other options

    We recently stayed at this hotel, not in the well presented main hotel but in their 3 star chalet adjoining. The overall experience has made me walk away thinking I wasted my money. It started when I walked into the room and found a clump of hair in the toilet, then the first nights stay was terrible. The beds were rock hard and the pillows were useless and had no substance to them. On top of this I could what was going on in the rooms either above, below or next to me as the walls seem paper thin. The rooms come with 2 bottles of water which were not replenished the next day and even when I called reception to have new ones brought to the room, they never appeared. The breakfast was good and the main hotel looks inviting. To add insult to my already poor experience, we had booking in their high end restaurant, only to receive a call the afternoon of the meal to say there had been an error and we can not eat at this restaurant. It has to be noted the error was the hotels and yet their problem became our problem as the management refused to find a solution other than put us in one of the other less high end restaurants. The worse thing was we could see the restaurant we booked from where we were sitting. Not sure why the last people to book were not told there was a mistake rather than put us in the situation, can only feel that as we were not in the main hotel we did not warrant 100% of the managements attention. The one positive of this hotel where the friendly waiting staff. As we only live 1.5hrs away we should have just driven home and avoided this place and saved ourselves a large amount t of money. Would look elsewhere!
