    Cannot recommend it enough!

I've heard many things about Acar Hotel, some good, some bad, but I have to say that my experience was entirely positive. I went for ten days this May and, as someone who has not been abroad for over a decade, I couldn't have asked for more. I didn't spend too much time at the hotel (as I wanted to visit Side, Manavgat and Aspendos, as well as Cleopatra Beach, all of which are really close to the hotel), and ten days was the perfect amount of time. I had a single bed and a double bed in my room (so I could alternate!). There was a 'do not disturb' thing for my door, so I could decide when the cleaners did or didn't come. They changed the towels, toilet rolls and bedding frequently, always arranging everything perfectly. They were also very polite. I was also very clean, and the bedding smelled lovely. You get a hairdryer, slippers, bars of soap, a kettle, cups and saucers, Turkish tea, some sachets (which I think were for cappuccinos), sugar and three bottles (with water, flavoured-water and orange juice), TV (but the only English channel is BBC World News, which is to be expected), fridge, bathmat, blankets, flannels and other towels. The food was buffet-style, with breakfast, lunch and dinner served at regular intervals everyday, as well as an outside snack bar (with a chef ding kebabs and burgers) and little biscuits and bits of fruit available all the time. Everything but the ice creams and spirits (like for cocktails) was free, and the Efes beer really is fantastic (it's just a pity that I can't find it anywhere in England!). The cocktails really were special -- they bring them out with sparklers and umbrellas and everything. The food was very varied, with eggs, chicken, fish, rice, loads of beautiful salads, fruit, cereal, soup, bread, pasta, spaghetti, noodles, pork, burgers, chicken nuggets, sauces and chips. You really won't want for anything, and you can alternate what you have each day. The desserts were lovely as well (and there was baclawa). For all the people who have said that it's repetitive or whatever, I really don't know what you expected for such a low price. The hotel itself is really close to the beach, and I could see the sea from my balcony. Sunbeds were £2 a day. There are two lifts, inside stairs and fire-escape stairs. The big pool is 5'3" deep and is super clean and big enough to have a good swim, and there is also a little children's pool (which I think is 40cm deep); it's great to just dip your toes in if you're a bit pool-shy. There were a few stray cats wandering around, but they were perfectly pleasant and seemed accustomed to humans. Above the canteen and the bar is the terrace bar, which is where most of the entertainment takes place. There was a belly-dancing show one night (which was amazing) and there were also mini discos. Music-wise, it tended to be the same things (such as 'Hotel California' and many film soundtracks -- I now know all of the moves to Tarkan's 'Simarik'!). The music plays in the bar until midnight, but the noise did start to dwindle towards the end of my stay, and it really isn't too loud. If you're going to stay at a resort, you have to expect a degree of noise. It's also nice to stay up when it's still warm, be it on your balcony (my one had an excellent view of the sea, and it was also quite fun watching everyone down below on the street) or in the terrace bar. If it's too loud to sleep with your balcony doors open (but there weren't any mosquitoes as far as I saw) and you're hot, then there is air conditioning in the rooms. It's for no extra cost, and the receptionist showed us how to work it. There are also different settings and a remote control, so you don't have to have it on full-whack. I think it also functions as a heater as well. There's also wi-fi (I think the first 500MB is free, but to get more is easy at the front desk. The hotel also has its own tour operator, which organises a dolmus and food for the parties going on the trips. There is a little shop (like a corner shop) inside the hotel, which sells toiletries, beach towels, food and drink all at very low prices. It also has its own gym (with a rowing machine, elliptical cycle and other things), an indoor pool (which is the same size as the big outdoor one), a Turkish bath room, a sauna and its own hair salon, nail salon and tattoo parlour (I had my hair washed, cut and treated for £10!). The best thing about my whole stay there was the staff. The lady at reception, Anel, was absolutely lovely, and she went out of her way to help us. She told us the best parts of the beach, helped to arrange our transfer back to the hotel, and hinted that she wanted us to stay a bit longer! We had to be out of our rooms by midday but our flight wasn't until midnight, so she let us keep our suitcases in the reception, and we were able to eat as much as we wanted and drink more than our fair share of Efes free! The waiters and barmen were all lovely, especially Cemal, who was trying to learn English. In return for us telling him some English phrases, he taught us a few Turkish ones. I never had an unpleasant exchange with one of the staff there. Some were perhaps a bit reserved, but anyone would be (I think they work 12 hour shifts and rarely get a day off, and have to speak a degree of Russian, Polish, German, English and Scandinavian languages), but they were never rude and always tried their best to look after you. Yes, there were a lot of Eastern Europeans and Germans, and we were the only English people there at the time (I think English people tend to go in the Summer Holidays), but that wasn't a negative thing. We found ourselves talking to a group of Germans who go to the same hotel three times a year because they love it so much, and they consider the staff to be family. The food also isn't really catered for Eastern European tastes -- there was a nice mix of British, European, Turkish and Middle Eastern foods. Overall, I can't recommend this hotel enough. The price is really great, it's not too far from the airport or the beach, is surrounded by restaurants and cafes (so you can try other food if you want), the staff are all lovely, the rooms are clean and spacious and it's all inclusive! It would suit a couple, a family, a group of friends or people with young children. There are also ramps for disabled people or those with pushchairs. I'm actually thinking of going back in October...

    Hotel from Hell

Just came back from the worst experience at the Acar Hotel. We arrived at our hotel at 3.30am Turkish. My two friends checked into their room, it was ok, not quite what we were expecting. Myself and My other friend were then shown to our room. It was very small and we were horrified to see the conditions we were expected to stay in. See pictures attached of the state of the room, damp patches on the ceiling, dirty bed sheets, unclean bathroom to name but a few. We complained to the night staff, they showed us another room after persistently asking to be moved and asking for a manger. The manger did not come in as he was at home. We were shown to another room whereby the guests had just checked out. We seen this room before it had been serviced, this was a good two hours after checking in, we had not had any sleep. We said it was ok once it would be cleaned and the night staff said in the morning we could look for another room via the manager. After 45 minutes we were told it had been cleaned. To our disgust it had not been, there were dirty sheets on the bed, dirty towels, the bin hadn't been emptied. We found left over food in the fridge which had a very unpleasant smell. Once more we complained. The night staff called the manager and the manager said he would be In at 7am/8am. The night staff asked us if we could stay in our friends room, but there wasnt enough room for four people to stay, not enough pillows or blankets or towels to have a shower. We were over tired and annoyed so went for a walk, this was around 6..00am. We came back at 7:15am approximately, no sign of a manager. We were told he would arrive soon and were asked to go and have breakfast. We did this and waited longer, no sign of a manager but promised the issue was being dealt with. It got to 9.30am, we could see the manager in his office eating his breakfast, too busy to tend to two extremely tired and upset guests. We told the hotel it was unacceptable and asked to check out. By this time a man claiming to be the manager said there was no other room available until the next night. The receptionist, a lady, said we would need to seek a refund by our tour operator. We checked out and the hotel did refund us 3 out of the 4 nights, however the service was shocking. They didnt care about us. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

    Family friendly, good location

    - Initially we were put in a really small room that had some pillow stains, then we asked to move rooms and we got taken to one of the more renovated rooms- that look like the ones advertised on the website, much more pleasant - Room had slippers, drinks in the mini fridge, air conditioning, blow dryer, and a kettle with coffee, tea bags and mugs (only in the room we moved to) - WiFi was good, only issue was that you had to pay 10 for a week of WiFi or 2 per day after using the free 500MB - EVERY member of staff was polite and helpful & made us feel welcome at all times and solved any issue we had - There was a wide selection of food everyday, including lots of non- meat dishes - Very close to the beach and local shops, however it is a 2 hour drive from the airport - Will attach a picture of what their all inclusive option consists of

    extremely noisy place

Of course I knew that Turkish 4-star hotel is European 3-star, but I definetely wasn't ready for that. The place is extremely noisy, rooms have no soundproofing at all. You hear people talking at low voice next door as if they were in your room. And the main fun is when they start their mini-disco, from 9 to 11 every night. In our room with the door and balcony closed, the volume was 70 decibel. Of you want to open the door, it became really painful. I don't know about Turkish, but in Russia permissible noise level in accomodation spaces is 55 during the daytime and 45 at night. And it was really loud and very annoying. Playlist was terrible too, but that's the matter of taste. And from the other side you hear 3 noisy restaurants at the same street. I contacted the reception and they tried to convince me, that it's not a nightmare, but fun and I should be happy trying to sleep at a disco. I don't even know what to add. Towels are old, bathroom equipment is cracked, house keepers don't understand a word in English, the staff are generally very nice. The food is quite good. I know. Don't believe if it writes that the internet is free, actually, it isn't. You get for free only 500Mb, after that you have to pay.

Thanks for the unbelievable holiday in Acar Hotel!

It was a nice holiday in Acar Hotel, Im thinking to come back, sorry for the late feedback:) So, I want to write a little bit about my trip to Alanya. So I came early in the morning, around 6:30 a.m. in the Reception desk to here was a guy who represented himself and I was told to sit and wait while my room will be ready. Normally he said check in is at 2 p.m. but they will give me my room much earlier. So I was waiting about one hour, receptionist said that it was already breakfast time, so I went to have some food, cuz I was quietly hungry, and I was able to fill some time for waiting:) breakfast was nice, of course you can not expect 5 star breakfast but for this hotel and this price it was perfect, and delicious:) after breakfast I finally got my room on the 4th floor, it was nice with two separate beds, rooms view was to the street. Lunch and dinner was surprisingly good, and area of the hotel was good enough. Entertaining things were okay, they have done everything to not make the guests feel bored, good job guys! Place was near to downtown Alanya, full of historical places , antic shops, normal shops, restaurants and little cafes:) Im definitely gonna come back to this nice place and hotel! Thank you!
