  Relaxed friendly, professional service

  We stayed for five nights and were very impressed. The staff paid attention to detail, were always available and very friendly. The facility was spotless and the rooms provided good A/C and hot water for showering. A small bar and breakfast service were a nice touch. I can recommend this establishment without any reservation.

  Useful location

  Hostal 1511 not too bad probably slightly better than Hotel Castillo? Which looked as tired, pool there dirty. Hostal a bit tired, room reasonable size, in the middle of the town near restaurants and some food/water shops if required. Bathroom loo seat poor fitting, water seems to be cold again Barracoa was first major town in Cuba some of the buildings were once grand. Local beach is black sand, covered in coconuts and a variety of debris. It had rained very heavily the night before so road in and around the town very slippery, sea was very rough. Older man on duty is very good and friendly, as is night duty girl. Location of the hostal is good for getting into the town a very short walk. Gives a better choice for restaurants etc. Nice walk along the sea front no real hassle from hawkers etc. Small CUC shops in town have some goods, buy when you see it. Tried one trip from here by booking locally, fairly straight forward and simple to do, tour due to some rain maybe not as good as could have been. Approached by driver and mates some chit chat. Watch out for this scam, they turn up when you are leaving and want to take bags for money, plus it's my birthday can I have money for a drink etc. Also watch out for taxi drivers who may want to charge you again for pre-booked transfers.

  Severely underrated

  This is a 2 star hotel. As with some other places where we stayed I surmise that it is the lack of a lift which precipitates such a low rating. If it had been classed as 4 star I would not have raised an eyebrow. It is a large converted house built around a courtyard. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom facilities were first rate and the air con was efficient without being noisy. Breakfast was served in the bar/reception area and was plentiful and good quality. Dinner is not available, but it is only a short walk to the town centre where there is a wide choice of restaurants. The bar staff here made the best mojitos which I tasted in Cuba. Highly recommended.

  Excellent price quality hotel

  Very friendly and helpfull staff, comfortable beds in a mid size room with a clean bathroom. Breakfast is good and included in the roomprice of 44 C. Spaceous lobby, very professional in-house travel agency (ecotur) and on 40 meters from the central square, Parque Independencia.

  Very Happy with our service here !

  This hotel was comfortable and the service was excellent. Hotel Manager Evan was very helpful and provided great service. The hotel is located centrally and near all the action. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Baracoa. Mike Theiss
