Good value half board resortWe stayed at Horizon Beach Resort for 4 nights. The hotel is predominantly German. So much so that we were on more than one occasion asked how we got there and did, at times, feel out of place. Staff spoke English no problem however but bear in mind all entertainment etc will be in German. The hotel is situated very close to the airport, only 10-15 mins away with no aircraft noise. Ideal for a short trip. Theres little else going on in the area, very quiet aside from Tam Tam a lovely yoga property with a bar and restaurant and other hotels you can access from the beach. (We visited Casa Cook for a drink one afternoon, highly recommend). There is however a bus stop directly outside the hotel that takes you to Kos Town in about 30 mins for 3 euros. You can pick up a timetable at reception. Kos Town is beautiful with much to see and do. Theres also a shop located just outside the hotel where you can pick up food, water, sun screen and lilos etc at a cheaper price to the on site hotel shop. The hotel is being renovated (at no inconvenience to guests, we didnt see any work whilst we were there) and we stayed in the new part of the hotel. Our room was beautiful with an incredible sea view. The best part of the stay was viewing the sun set from our balcony. We were taken to our room by a buggy which was a nice touch and they collected us and our suitcases like this at check out also. Minor points about the room; we were not provided with body lotion or conditioner so remember to bring your own. Limited English channels on the TV also so bring a laptop/HDMI cable if you want to watch anything that isnt the news. Other than that it was lovely! The hotel itself benefits from 4 pools, 2 brand new, so there was never a shortage of sun beds. Two pools look directly over the ocean which is beautiful. Towels are available for a few euros. The hotel also benefits from a private beach however you have to pay extra to use a sunbed on the beach (3 Euros per person per day) which I personally think is disappointing considering the hotel advertises itself as a beach resort so you would assume this was included. As such, we stuck to the pool and only went for walks on the beach. The sea was choppy when we were there but settled for our last day and many were swimming in it. Water sports were available and there was a local surf centre. There are also other activities you can participate in during the day time. The aqua aerobics was particularly good and the staff member who facilitated it made it great fun. Again however this was all in German so at times difficult to follow with no translation. There is also a spa on site but it was small and over priced. To use the sauna/steam room it was 15 euros for 30 mins. There was no indoor swimming pool. The gym was small however had an ok amount of machines. The half board option takes part in the main restaurant which I believe is new. The breakfast buffet is extensive with fresh fruit, cooked breakfast, cereal and pastries. The staff would also make crepes fresh in front of you and at the weekend they even serve Prosecco. Tea, coffee and juices are also included although the juices are not good and taste more like squash. Dinner is equally extensive and changed daily. Always good options available for starters, mains and dessert. Disappointingly water was not included in dinner and this was at extra cost with other drinks. The service in the restaurant however is impeccable and our waitress would even recall which of us drank tea or coffee in the morning. All incredibly friendly. You can also get lunch at other restaurants on site. The best value seemed the beach bar. Alcohol was more expensive than outside the restaurant but not extortionate. The evening entertainment was poor and could use improving although kids may enjoy it, we didnt. The dances werent in time and often the act would go wrong. The entertainment team were all friendly however. There were other things to do in the evening but these were all in the old part of the hotel which is quite a depressing and soulless area. Table tennis, pool etc is all in the basement. The hotel would benefit by bringing these up to outside areas. The other bars are also lifeless and aged. During September we were also told there was a much older crowd, this may change at other times of the year. Overall this was an enjoyable and great value holiday with a nice room and a beautiful sea view. Would recommend for a few days but may get bored for much more. I imagine once the old side of the hotel is renovated however this will be a great hotel.

Fantastic time - despite COVID-19The time at the Horizon Beach Resort was exceptional, like last year. Due to the corona pandemic, the hotel ensured that as quests, we felt comfortable, taken care of and safe. Thanks to all staff for the extra work having to serve food, respect social distancing and hygiene measures on their end, but without any complaint or "bad vibes". Always smiling and courteous. Look forward to coming back next year.

Beautiful hotelStayed here for 1 week in October. Absolutely lovely hotel, food amazing with plenty of choice, loads of sunbeds, friendly staff, great entertainment team and great location. The resort is pretty quiet but it was great for a week in the sun to relax. We went to Kos town by bus which was 25 mins away and 3.5 euros.

Exceptional resort, ticked all boxesWe booked this on the Tuesday and flew on the Saturday, for a much needed holiday of rest, sun and relaxation after working throughout the pandemic. The entire holiday did not disappoint. Most definitely a 4* resort. Cleanliness was absolute top all the way from reception to the pools to the gardens to the restaurant to the rooms. It literally shone clean. The staff throughout worked so hard, they were exceptionally friendly but professional and the crew in the restaurant worked morning and night and worked so hard, they were amazing. Thank you to every single one of them. The food at breakfast and dinner was buffet style (we were half board) and the choices to eat were very varied. All food was quality, well presented with loads of choice. In the evening you could eat different each night, likewise at breakfast there was that much choice from fresh fruit, yoghurts, smoothies, freshly made crepes, an array of cooked items, biscuits, cakes cheeses, and plenty of lovely coffee!!! The drinks were extra obviously with plenty of choices to drink at, pool bars, restaurant, beach bar etc. And again served very professionally, good prices and plenty of choices. Cocktails especially nice, and a good size serving of Greek mataxa if that's to your taste, as it was mine! The pool areas as beautiful, plenty of sunbeds, clean, and surrounded by the most lush gardens. The entire resort is very lush, very well kept beautiful gardens. Its stunning. The resort is on the beach, again which is lovely. We used the horizon surf centre just along the beach for kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, again good prices, professional friendly guys who ran it, with plenty of equipment to go round. The sea is so clear and was a good temperature for swimming in in October. The sun set over the sea, stunning skies from the beach and from our balcony. We had a garden view, but could actually see the sea as well. The view was stunning. The room plenty big enough for 2. It was 2 single beds pushed together which was a shame, but again they were plenty big enough. Plenty of wardrobe space, a fridge, a tv, and a good size bathroom with bath a good shower. House keeping every other day, changed towels, sheets and thoroughly cleaned. Only downside was no kettle so couldnt have a coffee on waking! Apart from that minor issue we could not fault this hotel. Plenty to do, stunning, clean, excellent service throughout, would highly recommend.
