    Character and Contemporary.

    Hopper St. Josef successfully combines its architectural heritage with real contemporary features. Rooms are well-sized and excellently served by all the mod-cons. Staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. The hotel is a short-walk (but enjoyable) from the main city Cathedral and the Rhine but this was not an inconvenience at all.

    Well refurbished

    This is an old convent which has been refurbished to a 4 star hotel. It is in the southern part of the inner city of Cologne, which is mainly residential. The rooms are well designed and quite functional. The staff are multilingual and very friendly. They have a small bar at the lobby which serves great beer. The breakfast is served in an ethereal hall. I slept well here, with a statue of Mother Mary watching over me.

    Modern and ancient

    Hopper did a great job transforming this former convent into a modern hotel, without compromising the original architecture and fixtures. We had a very small room on the attic level. Small, but so well designed, it didn't seem small. The area is quiet and not centrally located, which might be a problem for some, but we were there to see friends who lived in the neighborhood. Getting around Cologne is easy, and the center is busy and noisy, so this was nice and peaceful. Wonderful breakfast in a beautiful room.

    Just Awful!

    We arrived at the hotel on Thursday 21st November as it was my brothers wedding in Cologne. My brother had booked my family into 3 different rooms and had also phoned twice to double check that all was correct. They had messed up our rooms and when trying to sort out with the girl on reception she was very rude and and told us it was our fault! The whole stay was a complete farce with my sister having to move 3 times, no extra bed in our room so we moved and my Parents room smelt of drains. Reception staff were not helpful and unprofessional especially the girl on reception in 21/11. The manager would only give us as compensation drinks from the mini bar or breakfast. We were visiting for such a special family occasion and it was spoilt by the time spend changing rooms and trying to sort out the mess!

    Best Customer Service

    Jonas and Lisa at the front desk were so helpful each day of our stay. They are an asset to this hotel! The rooms are very modern and comfortable in this old monastery. The breakfast room has beautiful stained glass windows and offers a very nice breakfast. We enjoyed our stay here and recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cologne.
