  No Masks!

  My daughter checked in wearing a mask and noted that none(!) of the staff were wearing masks during COVID-19. We are frequent Hilton Hotel guests and the corporate website led us to believe that their properties and staff were taking the pandemic seriously. Not the case at this Homewood Suites. Additionally, the 'Hilton CleansStay Room Seal' was not on the door. According to Hilton policy, it is supposed to be placed on the door assuring the new guest that no one accessed the room since being cleaned.

  Maumee Homewood Suites Becoming a Dump!

  We have stayed at this hotel multiple times and it seems to be getting worse everytime we stay! We checked in threw our bags in the room and headed out because we were running late for a Birthday. When we returned late we noticed how dirty the room was. It definitely wasn't cleaned! The bathroom was absolutely gross! Pubic hairs all over the stool, floor, and the bath tub! How Gross! The bath tub had black and pink mold all around it and the drain was rusted! Not a typical Hilton Property! There was trash on the floor around the trash can! I'm pretty sure the linens on the bed weren't clean! Went down stairs the next morning and talked to the front desk. The front desk person wrote down all the issues and promised she would put her best person on it and it would be cleaned. We were gone all day and when we returned the room hadn't been cleaned at all! We returned to the front desk were we met Jeremy and took him to our room to show him the mess! He was appalled on how dirty it was and gave us a new room after checking a couple rooms with us to make sure they were cleaned! The only decent thing about our stay was the attention Jeremy gave us. It's going to take a lot for us to stay in this hotel again! This hotel has become a dump and I hope Jeremy can turn it around! Jeremy has a lot of work to straighten this place out. By far this is the Dirtiest Hilton Property I have ever stayed at!

  Dirty room, poor wifi

  The room was mostly clean, but it was not cleaned thoroughly. I tossed my coat on the couch when I first entered the room and when I picked it up I noticed it was covered in pet hair. Gross. I haven't complained to management about this because it looks like pet hair is only on the couch. This is a business trip and I'm really only in the room to sleep, so I don't really need the couch. But other travelers should beware. This hotel allows pets and they don't always clean the room thoroughly afterwards. Wifi speed is also slow, less than 4 Mbps downstream according to speed tests. That's noticeably slower than most 3-star Hilton properties I've stayed at (Gold status). I haven't noticed any congestion issues, but that's probably because the hotel is well under full capacity due to the pandemic. Wifi is a necessity these days. Standard wifi should be closer to 10 Mbps. I don't need to stream HD video, but I do need a connection fast enough to reliably connect to computers remotely (RDP over VPN). The wifi at this hotel doesn't allow for that. Last thing, the tub bottom for the shower in my room is so skinny and rounded, it's noticeably annoying. If I stand like a normal person, with my feet roughly shoulder width apart, my feet press against the sides of the tub at nearly a 45 degree angle (I'm an average size adult male). To actually stand with my feet flat, I have to stand with my feet so close to together that it's uncomfortable. I suppose this is one way to save money, have showers that are uncomfortable enough that people don't linger in them, using additional hot water.

  Clean, Comfortable Stay

  We stayed at this property for a month due to relocation. I was nervous about staying at a hotel during a pandemic. This property was clean and the staff were great. Upon arrival my room was sealed with a sticker and was clean. The staff are always working and cleaning everything. I would definitely recommend this property to others and would definitely stay here again. Great hotel.

  Horrible experience

  We had been long-term members of the IHG group of hotels but we are starting to look for alternatives so this past weekend, we decided to check out Hilton Honors. It was our first time at this hotel and overall our experience was a negative. PROS: 1. During purchase, you can chose your own room. And you can bypass checkin at the front desk altogether and get into your room with a digital key from the app on your phone. Pretty cool. 2. Breakfast was provided and there was a good variety...although still somewhat limited presumably due to COVID. 3. Full kitchen with utensils and appliances including toaster, microwave and refrigerator available. CONS: 1. Our room was not properly cleaned. Carpet was not well vacuumed and looked like it could use a shampoo. A glassware straight out of the kitchen cabinet was unwashed and visibly dirty with rottening food inside (see picture). 2. The sink in one of our rooms was very dirty and looked disgusting with the growing pink slime (see pictures). Clearly, this hasnt been cleaned for a while. Excellent example of a lack of attention to detail. 3. Very, very low water pressure from the faucets and the tub/shower...down to a narrow trickle. While I support water & environmental conservation efforts but this was unacceptable. I would rather burn or donate money than pay for this. 4. They need to find a way for the digital key to be shared by a couple. It doesnt make sense to have 2 people in a room where only 1 person can open the door and the other person cannot. 5. No-smoking rules need to be enforced. During our stay, someone smoked pot in their room (or in the hallway), which somehow got into the ventilation system and got circulated, causing our room and the hallways to reek of marijuana. Yuck! I expressed these concerns to the manager on duty, Jordan (sp?) but she seemed helpless. I dont know if many of these issues were unique to the room we stayed (room 212) but we felt the situation was bad enough for us to conclude that we were never staying at another Homewood Suites. However, we are still willing to give the Hilton Honors group one more chance.
