Good option for long tripsI stayed in this hotel in January 2020 (pre COVID). I was recovering from a surgery and felt this place was a perfect solution. Is the hotel prefect? No. Is there some outdated furniture and scapes and blemishes? Absolutely. BUT it does the job, it was clean and had the things we needed, like a kitchen and big enough refrigerator. At the time, pre COVID, it had full breakfast serviced daily and dinners several nights a week. Even for the healthy eater they had fruit and other options. The staff were always kind and helpful. I felt safe and cared for at this facility. Is it a resort and fancy? No, but it felt like auntie's house and it did what I needed it to do.

Huge Disappointment! You get what you pay for...Where do I start? To be fair because I am a glass half full person, I will start with the positives. Yes, there were a few. 1) Location - North Scottsdale right on Scottsdale Rd and close to your typical Scottsdale amenities. 2) Least expensive Hilton in the area (careful, this one comes back to bite us...you get what you pay for). 3) Laundry on site (although $2 in quarters for wash and same for dry). 4) Free, prepackaged breakfast and one bottle of water per person per room each day. Not the same as a hot breakfast, but not the fault of the hotel during COVID. 5) Bed and pillows were comfortable enough. Now, to move on to the reason for my review - to ensure travelers know what they are getting into before they stay here. Let me start by saying we have been loyal Hilton Vacation owners for years. We've never been disappointed by a Hilton property before. This was the worst Hilton property we've experienced. It is privately owned (thinking franchise) and terribly run. It is run-down, outdated, and the rooms are in desperate need of repair (even though the hotel lobby is decent). My husband and I were staying here for 10 days of our three-week business trip. I checked in ahead of time on the Hilton app and selected a large end unit on the third floor for minimal interruptions because we would be working 8-9 hours each day from the room. I selected the 3pm check-in time and digital key for contactless check-in because we had an appt at 4pm. At 3pm, our digital key was not available because the room wasn't cleaned yet. I checked in at the front desk and was told to give them a 1/2 hr to clean the room (he was talking to housekeeping when I walked in). Our room wasn't ready until almost 4pm. I had to rewash (by hand) all the dishes in the dishwasher because the previous tenant had not soaked some of the utensils/dishes and food was still caked on them. We were missing a few kitchen items (glass, knife, etc) and I didn't want to be charged for them. The kitchen faucet spurted water if you turned the faucet to the side. The bathroom handle had no screw in it so it would flip off when you turned off the water. We bought cleaning wipes to wipe down any high-touch surfaces because we could tell that they were not sufficiently cleaned (dried food on the desk, hair on the shower wall, and fingerprints on the tissue holder). And I identified the cold-air draft was coming from the living room window which was completely off the track (not lockable definitely a safety/security issue). Then Housekeeping walked into our room without knocking even with the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. When I went downstairs to pick up our breakfast from the cooler the following morning , I informed the front desk (same fella who checked us in the day before, Demarcus) that housekeeping had walked into our room the night before (even though daily housekeeping is not currently offered because of COVID and she had no reason to walk into the room). I also told him of the items in need of repair and explained that they weren't urgent, but I didn't want to be held responsible for them. He said he'd send someone up after our next meeting was over after 11am. No one ever came. The next morning when I went down to pick up breakfast, he asked if we were all set. When I told him maintenance never stopped in, he was surprised and said they were currently off that day, but he'd send someone up to take a look. So someone could have taken care of it when I first reported it but no one followed up to ensure it was taken care of and the next day there was no one on staff who knew how to fix the items. Quite a while later, a young man stopped up to look at the issues. He spoke minimal English and had difficulty communicating with us on which items needed repair - we had to show him. He fixed the kitchen sink but was unable to fix the bathroom sink or living room window. He told us we would have to change rooms. Demarcus from the front desk called up and confirmed we would need to change rooms and housekeeping was down the hall cleaning another one for us. Keep in mind, we had already unpacked all our belongings and had stocked our cupboards and fridge from our grocery trip the night before for the 10 days we would be there. When I stopped over to see the room that was being cleaned for us, I asked housekeeping (Consuelo) if it was a nonsmoking room because it reeked of smoke. She pulled her mask over her nose and said something to the effect of "Yes, it is nonsmoking, but people will still do things." She called down to find another room available. The next one had the refrigerator in the middle of the room because it needed repair. The final choice was decent enough and didn't smell like smoke, although much smaller than our original pick. We took it otherwise we'd have to switch floors. The next morning, I saw Demarcus downstairs while I was picking up breakfast. He was his usual cheery self and asked how everything was (which would normally be great except it was frustrating because he was dismissing our inconveniences instead of addressing our dissatisfaction head on). I was very honest about how disappointed we were in the experience. Maintenance was on site the morning I originally reported the problems, but no one took care of it. Then the custodial staff/housekeeping couldn't resolve the issue the next day. Demarcus did nothing to make the situation right. No free night (which the sign at the front desk says is their policy) was offered. Not even some other small peace offering like free sundry items to make up for the inconvenience. Im not sure that I even truly received a sympathetic apology. I asked if he was a manager. He confirmed that he wasnt. I asked when the manager would be on duty and was told the next available manager, Mark, would be in Saturday morning - two days later. I ended up not speaking to Mark because we were out and about for much of the weekend. I was so frustrated at that point. The attitude was lackadaisical and there was no effort made to satisfy us as the customer. Our old room was left as is for days after we moved out of it. Only the linens were collected but the repairs weren't addressed for more than a week. The new room also had issues including a leak under the sink and a grinding noise whenever the refrigerator kicked on which got progressively worse throughout the week. I waited to report them until we checked out because, frankly, we didnt want to have to change rooms again and they dont seem to be in any rush to fix anything. I had to check out in person at the front desk because the app wouldnt allow me to check out remotely (said the front desk wanted to check something for us). Nothing was said about why we had to check out at the front desk and no apology for our issues. And no water or breakfast left in the cooler that morning. I would not recommend staying at this hotel. It is poorly run and maintained. This is not operated like a true Hilton property. If youre accepting of a carefree attitude and have the flexibility to incur issue after issue on top of inconvenience without resolve to save a few dollars, this property might work for you. Otherwise, I would recommend paying a bit more to stay at the Embassy Suites nearby.
