Great staff, outdated rooms in need of upgrade

The staff at Homewood are great. This location in particular has attentive staff, especially in the breakfast room. This location in Lubbock is older and is in need of a refresh. The rooms have old furniture that has stains and is outdated, dirty, and uncomfortable. The bathrooms have the pre-fab tubs and not walk-in showers. No shower door, just a shower curtain. All the fixtures in the bathroom are old, outdated, and some in need of repair. This property in Lubbock is just not up to the standards of other Homewood Suite locations.

    Dated & overpriced

For $200 a night that we had to pay to get a room this was an absolute turd of a hotel. Room was dated and dirty. Location is great and close to lots of things to do. We stay Hilton 90% of the time & this was the worst room we've ever had at a Hilton property

15+ HH Member and This Was The Worst Hotel Experience I've Ever Had

Wow! I cannot believe this was a Hilton property for starters. We've been Hilton Honors members for close to 20 years. We are also Hilton Grand Vacation Elite Members, just to provide context for this review. Additionally, I've been a trip advisor member for about 8 years and I've never posted a negative review. We planned this 4 night trip because we were moving our daughter in to her new college. My husband and son were to arrive on the 3rd night. We arrived to find out there were multiple bookings for us. I went back and forth with the hotel and with our booking company who told us they had straightened it out with Homewood. However, Homewood claimed that they had not heard from our booking company. Secondly, the room they put us in was gross. There was long black hair on the tub and the tub was filthy, I'm blonde and so is my daughter. The shower curtain was filthy. There were coffee or tea stains on multiple shelves in the kitchen. The utensils were filthy. There were crumbs in the other cupboards. The cupboards were beat up. The couches and chairs were beat up & stained. Since we had arrived late (which we had called and let them know ahead of time) we did not have a chance to look it over. In the morning, I began to take pictures. Lastly, their internet was not working and had not been working for 3 days prior. My daughter had zoom meetings for school so we had to pay for additional hot spot coverage with our phone company. I went down in the morning to speak to the desk clerk (keep in mind many years ago I was a desk clerk so I know how its supposed to be done). I explained to her what was going on with the reservation, that a desk clerk had called twice and woken us at 1am to talk to us, again, about the reservation and that I wasn't up for talking to her at that hour. I also showed her the pictures I had taken and that on top of that the internet was down and that I had had to pay additional money to our phone company so that my daughter could have access to the internet for her meetings. I told her I was not happy. Her response was 'its not my fault'. What I had expected to hear was 'I'm so sorry that all that has happened, let me see what I can do to rectify this situation.' I explained to her that if they are interested in good PR that I would expect they would want to move our room and possibly even offer us either a small discount or something else. I was upset, but I did not yell nor did I curse. Her unapologetic stance remained and she told me she'd send housekeeping up. An hour later my daughter and I left to run some errands. I stopped by the front desk again and let her know housekeeping had not come and that I'd rather have another room. A woman from housekeeping was there and right away told me that she had seen the pictures and apologized to me saying 'that that room was gross and if I were you I'd be upset too'. I thanked her and I told them that my daughter had meetings from 3-5ishpm but that when the room was ready I would move our things while she was in the meeting and then she'd move down afterwards. That seemed fine. I called down at 4:18pm to find the new room was ready. So I began moving our things down. The new room was a little better in that it was clean but it still was just beat up. It had large stains on a chair and desperately needed a paint job. My daughters meetings went longer than anticipated. At 5:50pm the manager arrived at our old room where my daughter was and rudely told her to get out. My daughter asked her if she could have 10 more min to finish the meeting she was on and the manager said no. My daughter promptly picked up her computer to move to the new room (her computer and a few things in the fridge were the only things left in the old room). The manager came to the new room where I was. She began with telling me that she had heard I was rude to her desk clerk. And that I needed to get my daughter out of the old room immediately because she had people waiting to rent the room. I went up passed my daughter coming down. I grabbed the few things in the fridge. I came back down to the new room and began telling my daughter (with the front door open) that I was going to post our experience on the internet when I turned around the manager was standing there again. She had definitely heard me. She wanted me to come out in the hall so that she could speak to me. I told her I was tired and I wasn't up for it to which she responded "you all have to leave immediately" I said nothing and let the door shut. About an hour later cops showed up at our door.! My daughter and I were told we had to get out immediately, that despite having prepaid for all 4 nights we had no rights. We explained to the cops all that had happened. I asked them if this manager called them a lot to do this. They said 'Yes she does'. Apparently she had accused me of being racist and cursing and that my daughter refused to leave the previous room, all lies. The cops encouraged us to file a civil suit against her, they felt that we had grounds. On my last trip back to get our things, I said to the manager 'you must be pms'ing because we did not do anything to deserve this', to which she then accused us of criminal trespassing. I probably should not have said that but I was dumbfounded that it had come to this. I'm truly appalled not only with the condition of the hotel but the horrific treatment we received by the manager imparticular as well as the morning desk clerk. The afternoon desk clerk, Dani, was very sweet. We travel a lot and Hilton has always been outstanding with customer service. I'm shocked and disappointed that this is actually a Hilton property.

    One night 1/31

Mobility accessible king suite. Clerk said all accessible rooms were at the back side of hotel with parking close. He asked if I knew the last 4 numbers on my credit card used for booking. After reciting it to him and asking if he needed the card, he said no, just needed to check if there was enough room on the card. I was simply offended. I dont care what he was doing, there was no need to say that out loud. Room was old and worn but mostly clean. The chair seat in living area was totally soaked. Wet with what I dont know. Quick response and the chair was exchanged. Both television sets were great. Large flat screens with Direct TV. King bed was VERY comfortable, as were the pillows. Thanks to COVID, breakfast was still hot and served on request. Very courteous server. For the price, consider somewhere else like Hampton Inn & Suites across the parking lot.

No manager reception... but we will sell you beer/wine

Booked a 2 bedroom suite to have more room for the family. Room, was generally clean... but not fully stocked. The room had half of the utensils missing and the front desk simply said... 'sorry, someone must have taken them'. I also asked about dish soap to wash them (they were not very clean), and was told 'sorry, we don't have dish soap'. Only powdered soap for the dishwasher. When trying to use the pull-out sofa, we noticed the room had no extra pillows, sheets, and comforter. The front desk said that they forgot to put them in the room. The hotel also has a sign that they do not currently have a manager's reception (I presume due to Covid?).... yet they have another sign proudly stating that they will sell you beer or wine. What?! Due to Covid you can't give it to me for free, but you can sell it to me?! On the positive side, they did offer a couple 'to go' options for breakfast that avoided the buffet, but allowed for a few different options (including eggs, cereal, yogurt, etc.)
