    Great Suite

I checked out of the SpringHill Suites half way through my stay and moved over here. It was night and day difference. This is a great property. Its very well maintained. I had a studio suite that had two big windows. It had a small kitchen and living room. I will definitely stay here again.

    Disrepair

The hotel staff is great, very accommodating, they are doing their super best in a tough situation. The washers and dryers are literally ready to blow up, one of two washers has been out for weeks, the ice machine has been out for weeks, the fitness room equipment needs to be repaired. There are holes in walls. The furniture in our room is worn and tattered. Very disappointing for a Hilton property. The staff is very friendly, yet the owner needs to fix all the broken stuff. The exterior looks very nice.

Some good, some bad - will probably stay elsewhere the next time in Lawton

Good: The grounds outside were very clean. Outside, there is a swimming pool, but it was shut down after Labor Day. There was ample parking around the building. The inside common areas, like the lobby and hallways were very clean. There was an area near the hotel dining area with two computers and a printer. There was a room that could be used for meetings. Every staff member we dealt with was friendly, professional and helpful. The gym at the hotel has dumbbells ranging from sets of 5-50 pounds in five pound increments. There were a few medicine balls, some treadmills, steppers, a stationary bike, two weight benches, and a stand-up weight machine. This latter item limits one from doing some exercises like bench presses, leg presses and more. There is a commercial grade scale, television, cloth and paper towels, and sanitizer wipes. One is asked to clean up after working out and the room is limited to one person or people in the same party. The room was very spacious. oThere is a nice size kitchenette stocked with glasses, dishware, silverware and cookware, a refrigerator, stove top, microwave, dishwasher, coffee pot, and plenty of cabinets. oIn this area is a table with two chairs; one chair is on the kitchen side and the other chair is in the living room side (on the carpet). There was a phone on this table. There were some cleaning supplies in the kitchen, like dish soap and paper towels. oThe living room has a couch with a hide-a-bed in it, a large stool on wheels, a sitting chair, dresser, two lamps, and a television. oThe bedroom has a king-size bed with two end-tables with lamps and another dresser and television. There was an alarm clock on one end-table and a phone on the other. oThere is a sink area and closet with an ironing board and iron in the closet. oAcross from the sink area is the bathroom with a shower and toilet. oThroughout the rooms were pictures and wall art items that made it feel more homey. oLights in all rooms worked and were adequate for that particular room. oThere were numerous sprinkler heads in the ceiling areas. oThere were two smoke detectors in the unit, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. oThe windows in the room we stayed in were facing south. We could not see out the window of the living room as it was steamed up or had water residue between the double-pane windows. The not-so-good: When we made the reservation, weeks prior to arriving, we specifically asked for an upper floor and one that was away from vending machines and the elevator. We were given a room directly across from the elevator and were told that was the only room that was available. We had to listen to people coming and going from that elevator. When we first arrived for our nine night stay, we sanitized nearly everything as some things looked dirty. When trash is picked up, several times a replacement plastic bag was not provided. We had to use trash bags we brought along with us. Breakfasts were nice to have, but limited to the choice of the hotel. One mornings main meal portion was oatmeal, on another it was just cereal. When there was hot items like eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, they were oftentimes stone cold and had to be rewarmed in the microwave in the room. In the kitchen area of the hotel, on several mornings, large crickets were seen walking on the floors. This is adjacent to the kitchen where food is prepared and is in the area where food is set out for guests to take. In the bathroom, there was mold in the shower on the grab bar. The two towel hooks were both not secured to the wall and door and the towels kept dropping from them. There is no desk in the room, meaning one needs to use the eating table to do any type of business. The table sits on a tile floor and the chair on the carpet, as this is the transition area between the kitchen area and living room area. The chair did not have wheels on it, making it very difficult to maneuver the chair on the carpet. It should be noted we were in a large room that had a kitchen, living room, bedroom, sink area, bathroom, and closet very spacious. Yet a space could not be found for a desk and chair? Electrical wall outlets were not on walls where it would be convenient to use. As we were recharging camera batteries, an electrical wall outlet very low and in a corner under a lamp, was used. It was difficult to reach that area. The choice of television stations was very limited. There are 40 channels listed as being available on a card by the television. Some were not available at all. Of those remaining, more than half were sports or news channels. Nice to have those, but it would have been even nicer to have more choices. How about the DIY network, Hallmark, the Game Show Network, or others. It was also noticed that the television in the gym at the hotel had more channels than in the room. There are two air conditioner units in this hotel room; one in the living room and one in the bedroom. There are wall thermostats in each room. The thermostat for the bedroom air conditioner did not work and one had to use the controls on the air conditioner. The thermostat in the living room worked as it should. We were told at check-in that we would not have cleaning service in the room until the fifth night of our stay had passed. This may be because of the COVID-19 virus thing going on or it may just be that this is the policy of the hotel. After the fifth night had passed, that next morning we saw the guy cleaning the rooms in the hallway and asked about him entering the room that day. He looked at his chart and said our room was not scheduled for cleaning. Later in the day, when we returned to the room, we found that the room had been cleaned somewhat. The towels had been replaced and it appeared the carpets were vacuumed; however, the bedding was not replaced because we could see how we had made the bed earlier that morning and it was that way when we returned. If there is going to be cleaning service, the bedding should have been changed. The gym was used on four mornings and it was clean each time; however, the supply of cloth towels there had gone from probably a dozen or more on the shelf to zero on the third day the gym was used. That was mentioned to the front desk after working out on the third day, and having to use paper toweling instead of a cloth towel, and it was noticed that two days later, on the fourth visit to the gym, there still were not any cloth towels in the area. The Internet service was not the best. Wireless is the only option and was sometimes slow and oftentimes dropped the connection. This meant having to sign back into the wifi. Final evaluation: The hotel is adjacent to I-44 and our room faced the Interstate, but we hardly heard the traffic. The on/off ramps to the Interstate to/from this hotel were maybe a minute away. The location of the hotel, while convenient to the Interstate, was cross-town from many of the places we visited. For example, to get to some of the nicer restaurants, Walmarts (there are two supercenter and one grocery), Target, Hobby Lobby, airport (we didnt need the airport, but just saying in case someone reading this does) one would travel cross town. Not a big deal because Lawton is not that big, but it seemed that the traffic lights were set in such a way that we sat at them waiting for the light to change in our favor about 75% of the time. Access to the Lake Ellsworth, Lake Lawtonka, Medicine Park, Meers, the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, and Fort Sill (for you military or visiting family members) was easy and took less than 30 minutes for any of these destinations. The gates to Fort Sill, by the way, were maybe five minutes away in case youre interested in that. Would we stay here again on our next visit to Lawton? Maybe! And only if we stay long enough to warrant having the kitchenette. This was the driving factor in our stay here was that a kitchenette was available. We were able to cook some meals in the room and had a full-sized refrigerator for storing leftovers from restaurants and a good supply of drinks. Having a good sized freezer meant we could store some store bought meals there until they were cooked.

Our first stay since Covid was great!

We had a 2 queen 1 bedroom suite on the 4th floor (which is the top floor). It was perfect. It was great having a separate living room and kitchen especially during this Covid time. This hotel even provided a bagged breakfast that contained hot food. There were scrambles eggs, bacon, or sausage, pancakes, oatmeal, juice and a piece of fresh fruit. You had a choice of 2 different pre-packed choices each morning. It was nice to be able to bring back food that we order at local restaurants and have a table to sit at. Our room was clean. They didn't provide daily housekeeping but you would put your wastebaskets outside your door by 9am and later they placed new ones just outside your door. If you needed anything you could just call. We needed an extra couple of towels and they were given right away. I would definitely stay here again. And that probably will happen since we have relatives that live in Lawton.

    Funeral in Lawton

Came to Lawton to bury my father in law. Made reservations at the Homewood suites because other family members were staying here. Reserved a handicap accessible room for mother in law and another king suite. Was called 3 times on check in day to confirm what rooms we needed. Stated the accessible room and the king suite each time. When we arrived after a 12 hour drive they had the accessible room and a 2 queen suite. Tried to get our king suite but no avail. Staff stated no rooms were available. I talked to the manager who called me 3 times to get the correct. Rooms, but they still failed. We stayed in the room. Being that this is time of covid you would think that the rooms would be clean. We wiped everything down with a clorox wipe and it came up black. Also there were many other issues that you can see in the attached pictures. I will not stay here again.
