  Acting manager very rude, staff lies, do not clean rooms

  The hotel in Portage, MI is one of the worst I have stayed at for staff issues. They don't bother cleaning the rooms if you are staying long term, they lie about what they claim to observe and change their stories, they are rude on the phone, the list goes on.... They discriminated against my autistic son for some health issues instead of talking to us about it the acting manager was rude and condescending and said that she was going to charge us for the towels before even asking what the issue was. The manager said that the observed things in our room when they have never been in our room then changed her story.. They told me at check in that they would send a letter letting us know when they would come in to clean as they needed to once a week. We have been here a week and a half and have not heard from anyone. They claim that there is not anyone else that I can talk to to let them know the issues that we have so this is being posted here. Also posted on their FB page and they deleted it. We were supposed to stay longer but are leaving asap. Hopefully we can stop others from having a horrible experience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone

  Nice meals offered. Housekeeping team needs leadership.

  This hotel really pulls out all of the stops for meals (prior to the COVID-19 pandemic) and the ladies that cook and setup the breakfast and evening dinners were terrific during my three month long stay. The full kitchens here are also very nice if you decide to cook your own meals. Modern appliances and dishes provided in the kitchen area. Housekeeping staff, though was not as helpful. Several issues with room not cleaned, and claims that the 'Do Not Disturb' sign was on the door when it wasn't. I got excuses until I took the concerns to the General Manager, who realized that this was a pattern with other guest rooms also, and she took action. Cleaning left a lot to be desired in the beginning too. I had to repeatedly mention that sheets needed changing and that the bathroom shower wasn't being cleaned. (I knew this because they were not even picking up the washcloths left on the shower floor.) Once I was able to get things communicated, my stay went much better. (Probably because I was a longer term guest on a corporate stay.) Location is very easy to get to, and there are grocery stores, shops and restaurants nearby.

  I would NOT recommend this hotel. Horrible !! Notified Assistant manager Alyssa on checkout, showed these pictures, no comp offered at all!! Was told to contact Expedia since it was booked through them! No help, no apology, nothing offered to compensate the problem. AM aware this post would be made. Stay elsewhere!!

  BED BUGS

  THIS PLACE IS INFESTED WITH BED BUGS. I booked at this hotel for a work trip. First off the rooms are absolutely filthy, the fridge was disgusting with old crumbs, the bathroom was disgusting as well. I had to literally clean the room myself. I also woke up the next morning covered in head to toe with bed bug bites and found a dead bed bug on my bed. When I told the staff they accused me of bringing the bed bugs? the entire staff are absolutely rude. this place is overall disgusting. save your money and book somewhere else

  Stay Away

  Does putting a sticker across the door make us all feel safe; should it? The indication is that there are 10 extra steps to cleaning. Hmmm, i hope Homewood's corporate policies have better quality control. The rooms are not cleaned, dirty dishes in the dishwasher, still coffee in the coffee pots, and nothing was replaced or replenished. No towels, or even toilet paper. You come into an extended stay hotel during a pandemic hoping to get some rest from stress of your work-day, to find a dirty room, and no one at the front desk to help. Try calling the front desk, will someone answer? NOPE!! not at any time of the day.
