  Never again

  Although I have stayed at this location many times in the past, I was very disappointed with my experience this trip. Due to unresolved water issues, I was faced with lukewarm showers with very very poor water pressure. My suite has a lingering offensive body odor smell. The cabinet base under the kitchen sink was visibly rotting. Both computers in the business center did not work. A piece of equipment in the fitness center was broken with a sign on it. The main elevator button was broken upon check-in. It was very disheartening to see the lack of attention to general maintenance and cleanliness of this hotel. Unfortunately, I will no longer visit this Homework Suites.

  Great stay

  The staff was great, rooms were nice, breakfast was healthy and filling. THe grounds were beautiful. We were close to great restaurants and shopping. Walking distance to some even. we would stay here again for sure.

  Excellent Staff exceptional Location

  Staff really made this hotel feel like home. I chose this hotel because it was only a 3 minute walk to The Fresh Market where I could get ingredients to cook in the fully equipped kitchen at Homewood Suites. Spent 9 or 10 days here. Loved it. During Covid-19 shutdown. So didnt get hit meals, but reduced rate on room was appreciated. Hope to be back next Spring.

  Lack of Staff

  Lack of Staff negativity impacted service. Front doors locked during the day for Covid precautions....but you have to pick up a phone, put it to your face, and ask to be let in. No hand sanitizer anywhere. Went to get grab and go breakfast at 630, stood there and no one came to the front desk. Walked around to see if they were somewhere else..nope.

  Great escape from the Covid confinement

  Had a fantastic time! I was so tired of seeing nothing but my house and the grocery store for 8 months, so we did a trip to Birmingham with the family and did some minimal contact activities (zoo on Friday morning & Vulcan park Saturday) then played some board games. This hotel was fantastic, and the staff was great. They were always smiling and welcoming and asked how we were doing anytime we were in or through the lobby. We got room 424, a two-room suite with a king on one side, and two queens on the other, so there was room to separate or congregate. The kitchen was nice and had a good size refrigerator. Due to Covid they had everything in the dishwasher so you knew it was cleaned before you which we appreciated. The bathroom sinks were outside the toilet/tub area, so that helped with getting ready in the mornings. One of our favorite unexpected finds was the basketball court! It had a padded bottom, a tall net surrounding it, and even a light on a timer. We took the kids there every day to run around and play and get some energy out but be contained. They also had a nice bbq set-up with grills and tables/chairs that looked fantastic, but we didnt use. We also didnt try the outdoor pool. I liked that they had elevators at both sides of the building, so you didnt have to walk though the halls with your luggage, you could get closer to your room straight from the outside. The breakfast was different than usual due to Covid, it was grab and go. They had granola bars, oranges, water, individually packaged muffins and/or danish, and a brown bag for you to put your choices in to take back to your room. They also had a coffee station. I would really have liked it if they had milk and yogurt too which would have been something with less carbs and provide a drink for the kids, but we enjoyed it, especially the red raspberry danish, Yum! The only negatives to me were the toilets were a tad low (Ive had knee replacements), but that also made it easier for the kids, so in the end it is all good. The trashcans were also all small, since we ate take-out a lot in our room due to Covid, we generated more trash than normal. Maybe having some larger trashbags available in the kitchen area would be good (we actually had two in our car that we used). We did like having the recycling can in the room, made us feel better about the plastic water bottles. I would definitely stay here again. At first I was afraid that it was a bit too far south, but it really wasnt, we were everywhere in 10-15 minutes, it was nice and quiet, and there were so many food and grocery options around, including a Walgreens and Starbucks you could walk to, it was great. I would recommend it.
