Good service and rooms, close to airportI had a very nice 4 day stay at this hotel where I could enjoy good food at the Chinese restaurant and perfect comfort in a large room. Amenities are only in Chinese, so you don't really know what you are picking up! Very good breakfast, fully equipped spa and nice pool. The bar is not so lively but everything is available. Roughly 15 minutes to airport and same to center city. The staff was very friendly and efficient, even if the majority does not speak English. Had the opportunity to meet the GM and deputy GM of the hotel who were very attentive and helpful.

WOW!!! This place was amazing!!!I recently spent 4 nights at the Homeland Hotel. The level of service, quality of room, selection of food was all superb. In fact it was hard to find any fault at all. This was one of the best hotels I have stayed in. I had a great room overlooking the pool area. It was quiet and smoke free. I was attending a conference and it also seemed incredibly well supported too. The level of English at the front desk was really good, and room service was prompt and efficient. Even a call to collect laundry was handled quickly and the items returned quicker than I expected. They also had a good range of vegetarian options in the meals. The concierge are very good and got me to everywhere I wanted to go without fail. They even helped me get to the electronics store when I wanted to buy a cheap phone. While it is quite close to the airport it is a taxi ride into town. If you are looking for snacks or a change of food, when going out the front, turn right and then first right (maybe 300-400m in total) and there is a supermarket and some small diners serving good value local food. Just on the corner is also where some of the locals gather in the evening and do dancing. Great fun to just sit and soak in everyone having fun. I totally recommend the Homeland and I look forward to going back the next time I am in Chengdu.

Option close to the airportWe got 1 night at the Homeland. It is A good hotel, but it needs some remodeling. The hotel is around 15 min to the airport, and the hotel provides shuttle service, but you need to ask the reception on the night before leaving. The breakfast is ok with some options for westerns and plenty options for Chinese breakfast. Overall is ok for a short stay.

Fading GloryI guess this hotel was built to be a convenient lay over near the airport but now the expressway by passes it the hotel is a little isolated. Impressive entranceway and lobby with very attentive and helpful staff. Lovely pool area but the idea that you pay 10¥ for a locker and another for a towel shows that standards are not what they once were. Had a buffet style dinner which was very western and not so impressive. Still there are many worse hotels to choose in Chengdu. Location sort of let's it down though as it is a long way from the city centre.

Stayed for a weekI stayed for a week as I was attending a conference nearby. They first booked me into a smoking room on the sixth floor, but upon request quickly switched me to a non-smoking room on the eight floor. The room was clean and towels were changed daily. The breakfast buffet had lots of Chinese and western choices, and my favorite was the Sichuan noodle (cooked upon request). There is also a Chinese restaurant inside hotel opened for lunch for dinner - not cheap but it's very clean and the food was alright. Like some reviewers pointed out, the exteriors have aged noticeably. The upkeep inside was good. The hotel is close to the airport, but be aware cabs/taxis don't want to do short-run from the airport. Usual cash price (off-meter) is RMB 40~50. English of some staff were better than others, but all of them were very friendly and helpful.
