Will charge you twice - be careful!

This hotel was incredibly good value for a single traveller and also clean. The receptionist was very friendly. However, they nearly charged me three times for the same stay. I checked in after reception had closed so I picked up my key at the late check-in box by calling a number. However, I had to give my card details over the phone before being given the code as they said I hadn't paid. I had paid a month earlier on booking.com but couldn't be sure at the time so I gave my details again, then just assumed they were right and left it at that. On check out they asked me to pay again and I said I had already paid at least once, perhaps even twice, and this would be the third time. I then checked my online banking which proved my initial thoughts that it was originally paid for a month in advance, and had to show an online bank statement to prove I'd paid it a month earlier, and I rang up my bank to make sure they didn't take the charge from the day I checked in and gave my details over the phone. My friend staying in a different room has been charged twice since he paid on check out in cash, again assuming they were right. He will now have to recover the money, all I have to do is keep ringing the bank to make sure the charge isn't taken in the first place.

    Double payment without receipt

The hotel was perfectly nice, good value for money and was clean. Yet I booked through Booking.com and they couldn't tell whether or not I had paid the booking. As I couldn't remember if I had paid or not they made me pay again, and I am still trying to get the money back two months later!!!!

    Not again ...

Three stars? Why? What for? I stayed there only because all other places were full. Can. Or be suggested at all. Noisy, dirty rooms with old furniture. TV from the 1970s ... Bath room maybe cleaned some time ago. Never again!

You get what you pay for

The Hotel could do with an extensive upgrade / modernisation, but looking at the price you pay for a room, even when there is a convention in the area, I guess you have to compromise somewhere. I can only speak for the room I had (225) and it was perfectly okay, sure there was an element of Pine furniture shop about it, but I have to say that I slept well. The Bathroom was probably furnished in the 80s, that is all you can say to that. One thing I should have paid attention too is that there is a small office building cross the Hotel and I should have closed the curtains before having a shower, and drying myself off afterwards I apologise to all the people I harmed having to witness this in the morning. What did come as a surprise, that housekeeping seems optional at the Home Hotel Haan, I am a grown man and I can keep my own room clean but nevertheless in a hotel one expects that the room will be freshened up. Clearly the Hotel is not the quietest, but one would think that before anyone books a Hotel room they check on Google Maps where it is located the A46 is just around the corner, not that it is like sleeping on a park bench in NYC, but also not a yoga retreat. In all, the Hotel is okay for one or two nights, it is not a place where you pay peanuts and get 4 star service, here you get what you pay for

    Needs major overhauling.

It is true that you get what you pay for. We were not over-charged and so it was pleasant enough. The rooms were clean but everything was so old and outdated that it gave you a funny feeling and there was an odor in the room. Even though everything was clean, there was a feeling of uncleanliness. We declined breakfast because it was too expensive for what was offered.
