    Comfy

I stayed at hollamoor farm in August. This is pleasantly situated in Barnstaple. The grounds are lovely and the beds are very comfy. As the owners were away during our weeks holiday, the ground staff looked after us. Breakfast seemed to of been a budget one, as not a lot of choice, the towels could of done with a little comfort too. The refreshments for the room was actually on a tray outside the room and a shared kettle for 3 rooms. Unfortunately the owner was not willing to listen or discuss the issues raised and begins a long sarcastic and insulting response. Raising many times we should of booked a travel lodge, where in fact you can be guaranteed of a good breakfast and soft towels. Well worth the money I would say.

    Charming oasis

Well located and situated in a beautiful spot. Hollamoor Farm is full of the classic/rustic charm of an old farm Manor House, with a wonderful feel to the family home of the Wreys that its been for many years. The self check in service makes it really easy to come and go dependent on your plans and the host and staff are always friendly and happy to accommodate your needs. Hollamoor Farm is more of an AirBnb style accommodation with the host providing endless recommendations to places to eat, walks and activities in the area. Giving you the opportunity to escape :D Would be lovely to visit again.

    Odd...no privacy main issue.

What can I say? Very strange stay. No privacy here as there were no locks on doors and the rooms are DEFINITELY not worth the money (two single beds pushed together does not make a double bedroom!) We were also given a room to sit together for a takeaway after what had been a very eventful day and after one of our party fell in, meaning we were eating later than any of us wouldve liked to, the host barged in and demanded to know why we hadnt eaten our food. Not that we needed any reason - we were paying to stay there so couldve eaten whenever we liked but clearly, as we were staying in the house, we had to abide by their meal times (even though they dont serve evening meals). This was one of 4 times they walked in, unannounced, to a room we were told was for us to sit together as part of our room price. The other visits were of a similar ilk. The invasion of privacy, the bumbling bombardment into our private conversations made us feel very unwelcome and, therefore, made for a quick exit the next morning. From other reviews, its clear that youll be fine if you stay in the converted barn buildings where you can actually get away from the hosts but if you stay in the home be warned - you will be invaded. The house needs serious renovation - it desperately needs redecoration and some more modern features (the curtains mustve been from the 70s!) but I have a feeling they let out rooms in their own home so its probably to their taste. Shame as its in such a beautiful setting. Oh and in case I get the same response as others that have clearly stayed in the house rather than the barns - we appreciated the beauty of the settings and we didnt move on to a Travel Lodge(heaven forbid); rather we moved on to a beautiful retreat where you are treated as paying guests, not as children staying at their distant great-great-(great-great)grandparents house. Also, NOT COVID-19 clean (we had a used bar of soap in our en-suite!) so Id avoid if you have any concerns of this current pandemic.

We have just stayed at the gorgeous Hollamoor.

We have just stayed at the gorgeous Hollamoor. Nothing could have been too much trouble. Our welcome tea, by the very warm & friendly hosts, in their fabulous kitchen was lovely. The room was toasty warm, piping hot showers & baths, all beautifully decorated with a lovely mix of old & new stuff and exquisite curtains. The super fast wifi was brilliant (they said they had just had a new system put in). We'll be back cos we came in the summer as well and adored all the beaches, gardens & coastal walks. Devon really has got it all.

    Unspeakably wonderful!

I almost dont know where to start but in the interests of retaining the interrelated of the short attention spanned among us: if you like beautifully furnished, decadently cosy, characterful rooms; beautiful rural settings with onsite pheasants, horses, ducks and doves; warm, friendly interesting hosts, and sumptuous breakfasts served in 17th century farm houses then this place is the place for you! Now for the detail - I stayed at Hollamoor farm when looking at properties in the area. Id been looking in the southwest for a little while and, having always stayed in hotels, have gotten used to a fairly impersonal and cold reception. On this occasion however, expecting to be ushered straight into my room after my 5 hour journey, I was instead warmly beckoned out of the rain and into the Wreys beautiful, cosy kitchen for a cup of tea, a chat and a cuddle with the the cutest dog on earth. Once Id warmed up I retired to my room, and was blown away! It was not a room but a full mezzanine space: generous tea and coffee making set up downstairs, and the show stealing upstairs complete with marshmallow like bed, plushly upholstered sofa, a collection of beautiful dark wood furniture; a bathroom with full bath (exquisite lavender bath oil also provided!) and a skylight window treating you to a divinely soothing tippy tappy noise should you be lucky enough to experience it in the rain. I couldnt recommend it highly enough and will myself be back as soon as circumstance allows!
