    Noisy location, close to SHA airport

    Hotel rooms and interior are better than average Holiday Inn. Internet is rather slow and local, meaning that you have no access to Google etc without a VPN. I spend lot of time in hotels in China, but this was first one where they scan / take a picture of you when you check in. Weird. Not sure if that is to do with the flight path that goes right over the hotel. And at least for me that was the big negative. You have planes every 3 minutes flying right above the hotel. And at a pretty low altitude. If you are in building 2 back side, it looks like the planes are about to land through your window. For me this was too much noise and Ill probably never again book myself here. The Qibao subway station is about 15 min walk away from airport Hongqiao airport direction. Next to the station is a really nice, swanky Vanke mall.

    Not An Ordinary Holiday Inn

    This hotel appears to cater to tour groups and conventions. Every aspect of the hotels contemporary design makes a great first impression and the staff were all top notch. The breakfast was the best in my two week tour. The rooms were large with an excellent bath that could be opened to the living area to provide natural light. Wifi and desk space as well as multiple charging points were terrific. With VPN we had no problem accessing sites like google and facebook. The location is near a main train station and the domestic airport but some distance from the city center. However the local area has many shops, restaurants and convenience stores. Be prepared when you enter your room to experience an aircraft from the nearby airport appear to be flying directly at you. It does create some noise but the airport closes during the prime sleeping time. I stayed here twice during my trip and on the second stay the room I was given had a strong smoke smell. There is a sign in the room threatening a large fine for smoking but it does not appear to be strongly enforced.

    Nice hotel with all Western comfort, friendly English speaking staff

    I booked this hotel because of the location, and had no specific expectations - apart from the standard Holiday experience. The outside does not look exciting, but the inside is very nice. The lobby is very big, and staff welcomes you in a very friendly manner. Being a Spire member, I got an upgrade and must say the was a big upgrade: I would not describe it as a room, but as an apartment. I was also treated on fruit and cookies, well appreciated! The bathroom is big, with a shower and a separate bath. For couples, be aware there only is one sink. The bed is huge and comfortable. The hotel is close to the local airport, and planes are very low...and noisy. The staff knows this, since I received some ear buttons upon check-in. I was on the 7th floor, not sure this is better on lower levels. The planes pass at a high frequency till around midnight. The hotel also offers an execute lounge access at the 7th floor... but this one is in another building at the opposite side of the lobby. Communication on this would have saved me some searching time. The lounge was empty, so I only stayed for a coffee (was good quality). Breakfast obviously offers plenty of Chinese options, but also a few Western style ones (like donuts, toast, croissant, cookies). There is however no jelly or something similar. The coffee is in a big can, and was colder than the hot milk. That could be better. Also here: I found out after day one, that IHG members have a separate section: you have to cross the entire restaurant and at the end you have the seperate section. The coffee here is much better! All in all, a very good hotel, and I will return

    A fantastic Stay

    This is definitely a wonderful hotel located in the central of Hongqiao Area. The hotel provide shuttle service to the airport which is super convenient for our business traveller. Room is great and service is nice. I love their lounge, and view inside. Food during the happy hour is great and they change the menu frequently. Overall this is a good hotel for business travellers.
