  Mixed Emotions

  We were here for a wedding this past weekend on Saturday. Nice place and priced fair if your booking was in a block of rooms but since the property did not offer the Bride and Groom a free room I bought one for them to only find out upon check-in the room cost was $179 and showed up on my bill for $235 (with no add-ons from the concession area). In the past unless things have changed when you book a block of rooms for guests for a wedding the Bride and Groom get at least a free room let alone a wedding suite. I would have thought IHG was all about that but at this property they were not. I had a better experience at the Staybridge next door the night before and wish we would have known the option but oh well. And one more thing, seeing the ceremony and the reception was only down at Midway Village (5 mins away) this property did not offer any shuttle. I am not sure IHG with what happened, but never again will we recommend this property to family and friends.

  Rockford Holliday Inn

  So I normally like to stay at Holiday Inns. Although there is some construction going on the place isnt the nicest. It is somewhat aged, There is a boarded up window in the front of the building. The area was nice, plenty to do and plenty of shopping. The room was comfortable, again needed some updates. The door to the bathroom was coming apart at the bottom. Toilet had some flushing issues, and at the end of my stay the bill had some gifts shop charges that were not mine, (never went into the gift shop while I was there). But the front desk took care of it. Overall the place needs some TLC.

  Cancelled our second night

  For nearly $200, our suite was way over priced. The hotel is supposedly being renovated and I understand letting some things go. But you need to give people a lower price for broken lamps, thermostats that dont work, bad decor, and well worn fixtures. The room was clean - thanks Lupe! And we had quick responses to our requests. So I didnt give it 2 stars. We cancelled our second night that we had booked with them. There was a company using a room in the lobby for hiring. But there were so many people in and out of the lobby - made for a very insecure environment for people staying at the hotel.

  What it is and what it's not

  If you get a great rate from a 3rd party, it's a decent place to stay.. What is is: A full service hotel, has gym, pool, restaurant and courteous staff.. Rooms are musty and smell like smoke ( i was in a non smoking room) bed was average comfortability with HI's range of pillow choice. Shower / bathroom is old but works. Has a 24hr concession which is very nice.. Staff is super friendly.. Blinds are old and can be better, HVAC works fine.. Easy parking, free WIFI and restaurant was surprisingly good.. After a long day of travel i appreciated having a place in the hotel.. Until the renovations are complete, i would look for newer chain.

  Business Trip in Comfort

  Was in Rockford for business training in November and this location was recommended so myself and a colleague booked it. Very nice and typical of Holiday Inn so I got what I expected as a frequent traveller. Very nice room with the usual ammenities, fridge, coffee, iron etc. The bed was very comfortable with great pillows and good heating/cooling in room. Slept very well. Washroom was good, I always hope for larger toilets, just my thing. Staff were awesome and friendly. There was a restaurant attached, Hoffman House and they had great food with a really nice salad bar. Gotta try the hot bacon salad dressing! Delish! Tried out the pub one night as well. I wish Americans new what Rye Whiskey was. Good service anyway. I would stay again. Left my room key in the restaurant first night and staff grabbed it and returned to front desk right away. Also free coffee in the lobby in the morning. And they have a little snacvk store as one would expect.
