Only spent one night. My wife and I spent only one night of two nights planned on our way further out West; we thought Deadwood would be a fine stopping off point for a couple of evenings. This is a wonderful roadside hotel; its not Four Seasons, its a Holiday Inn. Management does a good job. We were treated well, our room was clean and ready and the staff were all masked. The reason we left early was that few people in Deadwood wear masks to prevent the Coronavirus. We could not find a place to eat dinner without significant fear of infection, so we left. Management was very accommodating in our request to leave early - no issues whatsoever. They said they try to lead by example but few were cooperating as their guests. Oh, we ended up eating room service which was quite tasty and reasonably priced. We will go back and stay there when normality returns to our world. In the meantime Deadwood is a significant Super Spreader risk zone. If you are one who fears Coronavirus infection be warned.

Nice stay and viewsChecked in on the 6th for a 1 night stay and got a room on third floor Mt Moriah room and view. Nice clean comfortable with ok wait staff. When you check in you have to go thru casino to elevator go up to 3 floor to hotel lobby to check in then back to your vehicle to park and install your parking permit and get luggage to take back to room. No coffee at hotel in the morning so back down to casino to bar for coffee, town dont start waking up till after 7 so if you want a nice walk around in the morning there is no folks on the street. Our room had a balcony and we enjoyed the peace and quite and views in the evening and in the AM, bed and pillows were comfortable and shower had plenty of pressure and hot water. Gambling and restaurant below hotel but didnt eat there due to wanting to eat at Legends steakhouse. All in all a nice stay and would stay again

Great place!Wow! Is all that needs to be said what a great place to stay. First off the gentleman at the front door greeting us was so kind even got us a luggage cart. Second the hotel staff was so welcoming they even gave our puppy a doggie package which he loved! Third and final Cindy and the staff at the restaurant were so kind honestly probably the best experience Ive ever had in a hotel! Such a clean and fun environment made me feel at home! They take pride in where there work.

Very Nice ... Needs some Off-Season Customer ServiceMy family wanted to head to the northern Black Hills for an overnight "local" vacation ... and we were told to try out the Deadwood Mountain Grand Hotel. Very affordable during the off-season ... $89 per night, which includes a beautiful room with a view of the community. The on-site amenities were nice, and we were impressed by the cleanliness of the entire facility, lobby, rooms, pool, etc. We were also happy that the staff enforced the COVID-19 guidance, such as a limit on the number of guests inside the pool area. Masks were also required in the public areas of the hotel, and subtle signs were posted throughout the property, reminding guests of the expectations. Nicely done Holiday Inn! As for red flags ... first, when making the reservation online, it gave the option of purchasing a $20 breakfast voucher. Seemed reasonable ... we were not "out anything" the next day ... we were basically paying $20 in advance. However, upon check-in to the hotel, we were given a coupon for 10% off meals at the casino restaurant. When we asked about using the voucher and 10% discount, the waitress told us "no." She would only allow for one coupon ... yet the voucher was not a coupon, nor was it a discount. She did not argue with us, but she definitely did not know about the online pay in advance option. This should be corrected for future guests and/or clearly worked out with the casino restaurant. And on our day of departure, we asked about checking out late ... one hour. The female desk clerk did not even say anything ... she just shook her head. When we came back from breakfast with only about 15 minutes left to checkout, there was not even a housekeeping staff member / cart on the entire 4th floor. Clearly, it would have taken more than an hour for the housekeeping staff member to get to our room. What kind of bummed us out was that the desk clerk called our room at 10 minutes to 11 a.m. ... and reminded us of the checkout time and asked if we needed any help. Although she probably did not mean it, it came across as we need you out at 11 a.m. ... nothing later. In 40+ years of traveling and staying at countless properties, no-one has ever called us from the front desk. Overall, beautiful location ... affordable prices ... great food ... wonderful spot for a get-away ... and we will definitely be back. Just passing along some comments for future consideration.

Good and Bad, But No UglyThis was our 4th stay at this hotel, which we choose for its convenience of access to the country courthouse on the other side of the parking ramp. It is also nicely located for anyone who wants to take a stroll through the historic center of town, which we urge all visitors to do. Deadwood is as charming as it is historical, and everyone who lives here should be proud of all the hard work that went into the preservation process. This hotel is an important part of that story.. The public areas of the hotel, especially the lobby and the pool and hot tub, remain its strongest features. There is reserved parking for hotel guests immediately you enter the parking ramp, but in the winter time in particular check-in remains a problem. Who wants to wheel their luggage through the slush? And yet you are not supposed to park in the alleyway that fronts the hotel entrance, where you can off load your luggage just a few feet from the door, and there is a valet ready to help you. The rooms are showing their age. For example, this is one of the few hotels that we have used in the past year in the HI/HIE/Candlewood/Staybridge conglomerate that does not have dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and soap in the shower. The furnishings are both too large and too dark for the available space. which makes the room feel smaller than it really is. Since renovation is an ongoing process in the hotel industry, one can only hope that management will opt for the lighter colors and sleeker lines that we encountered in several other recently renovated hotels this past month (January). On the plus side, we really appreciated having a freezer compartment in the mini fridge for our dry ice. This was the first time here that we did not have to ask to have it stored in the staff refrigerator.
