Great holiday place for familyWe spent the New Year's Eve there to welcome 2017. The food for that evening is ok but the service is on top of the line. Everyone who works there is trying to make the guests happy, and they are very sweet towards the little ones. So it is wonderful to take the family there. Did not try the hot spring this time since there were so many people there, but the last time we were there, we really enjoy the hot spring!!!!

Far outThis great hotel is a long way out of town but the hotel itself is so good. Rooms are huge. They have a huge spa bath that has hot spring water in it at 42 degree. So good after a long day out sight seeing. Bed is huge and comfortable. Shower was big and good shampoo. Breakfast is a 4 min walk It is nice to go and have a walk before and after a great breakfast. It is in another building but nice. No public transport around but taxis will go to town and even Uber to bring you home. Loved this place

Best hotel in the areaI travel to the area every 3 months for work and always stay at the Holiday Inn. This is definitely the best hotel in the area. I do not stay here for vacation and have not visited the Hot Springs, so i can not comment on that. As an American traveling for business I can say that this hotel is absolutely lovely during most of the year. I just returned from my last trip in October and it was beautiful. Spent every morning sitting on my balcony and enjoying the view before the drive to the factory. The breakfast buffet is great, many options and the food is good. The Chinese restaurant is also very good, luckily I have a Chinese coworker with me to order the food. The things to keep in mind if you are going to book this hotel if you are Western are: 1) it is loud. The hallways are made of marble and everything echoes. You will hear the doors opening and closing down the hallway. You will hear other guests and they will not all be using their "indoor" voices. I have found that earplugs are a necessity for me staying at this hotel, and they work perfectly! 2) it gets cold. If you are going in the winter this hotel gets very cold. Your room will be warm but all public areas including the hallways and restaurants will be cold. The windows are kept open in the hallways year round. Be prepared to eat your breakfast with your coat on. (I have noticed this does not phase the locals, but Westerners are not used to eating indoors while wearing full outdoor gear) This is common in China where there is no "public heat", not a complaint against the hotel, just something to note. 3) it can be smokey. I have noticed that most guests smoke where they want. I have noticed this is also a common theme when traveling in China, this is not specific to this hotel and not a complaint against them. I also havent noticed a difference between smoking and non smoking rooms unfortunately, it just depends on which room you get. But you can open your patio doors and air it out quickly. 4) room assignment. I book my room online through the IHG website. When I first started coming to this hotel I would book a Deluxe room which is bigger than a Superior room and has a separate bathtub. I have noticed that no matter which room I book, even if it is the more expensive room, I get whatever room they have available. So I have stopped paying for the more expensive room because I always seem to end up with the Superior room. Also, I have had some issues with my credit card. Usually the person at the front desk knows which machine to use for my Amex but this last trip she did not. It all worked out, but if you are Western and traveling here and are told that your card was declined, it may be they didnt use the correct machine for your card. Just a tip.

Unparalleled ServicesI'm an elite member of IHG's loyalty customer program for quite a long time as well as other international hotel groups such as Hyatt, Marriott, Shangri-la, Starwood, Accor and Hilton etc. And I've been staying a lot of properties all around world including Asia, Europe and North America. I have to say the Holiday Inn Chaohu Hot Spring Resort is among the top picks in terms of services! This property is a hidden gem. 40 minutes drive from the bustling city of Hefei. 5 minutes off the highway, you are at this beautiful resort. Neighboring one of the best hot springs in the whole of Anhui Province and other attractive little villages and scenery spots. This place is packed during winter and public holidays. I stayed here twice in March and May. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. Every room has a large balcony facing the mountain on the back side of the hotel. The hallway is a bit long though, but understandable due to the property used to be a military base. Overall a very attractive and quiet resort you could relax for a few days from your busy life. Although in its low season, the services I received were impeccable. Your elite status was immediately recognized during check-in. Room was upgraded, welcome amenities and even afternoon tea were delivered to your room before your arrival. Above all, it's the staff who are working here that made this property outstanding. Everyone you encounter from the bellman, front desk employee, customer relationship manager to the housekeeping ladies and waitresses always have genuine smiles and willingness to help. All of this really made me felt like what Holiday Inn is willing to offer truly a home away from home! I would like to specifically appreciate a few staff - Mr. Keith Ji Wenbin, Mr. Collin Huang Gaoce and Ms. Lily Huang Jingjing who went out their ways to make me felt so welcomed and accommodated in every possible way. You should be the pride of your hotel!

Smoke alarm is audibly beeping all night longDirty. People smoke everywhere, plus dust is everywhere as well, This hotel would benefit from a very, very thorough clean-up. I felt dirt everywhere. Moreover, when trying to sleep there is that smoke alarm that wakes you up at 3AM and beeps every 15 seconds. Once you hear it, you cannot unhear it and you cannot return to sleep. I cannot believe that this has never been noticed nor fixed. Furthermore, the layout of the hotel is quite clumsy and out of three restaurants advertised one is already shut down. Breakfast is not bad but wholly overcrowded and people just sit wherever. If I can avoid it I will never be back here. By the way, the hot springs are not included in the price.
