  Ok but could be cleaner

  Stayed recently. Staff on reception and in the restaurant were excellent especially given the covid situation. The restaurant staff worked really hard to keep people happy. You had to pre-order your selection the night before. The food was brought to your table. Sadly the cleaning in room 277 was not up to the standard I expected. The light switches and certain parts of the room was dusty, the bathroom plug was dirty and the door frame in the bathroom. I like this hotel and just felt let down. Please keep your clean promise.

  Dated and did not feel clean

  I stayed at this hotel 2 years ago whilst on business and chose it again due to the positive experience perviously, rooms, location and service. We had travelled from Scotland and understood from the IHG website the enhanced measures and cleaning commitment in place. There was plenty of free(register car at reception if a guest) car parking available. Welcomed at reception and could instantly see how quiet the hotel was, no restaurant open or bar area and only one member of staff visible. (unsure about spa/pool). We had booked an executive room were allocated (?380). Bit of a walk from reception along a very dated corridor and in the exec corridor evidence of at least 2 rodent traps! The room itself did not feel clean - enough for one cup of tea each (no sugar), furniture appears dirty and not been wiped down. Lots of dust, bathroom ceiling has cobwebs and flies and sink blocked, luggage rack broken. I immediately returned to reception to raise concerns. The young girl was apologetic and polite to be honest but I was not offered another room so had to remain there overnight. She advised me to speak to supervisor in the morning. I did this first thing again she was very polite and apologetic. After some discussed we agreed I would not be charged for the experience. We had planned to return after breakfast but instead checked out at 8.30am Bed however comfortable. As the restaurant was closed. The was a very limited menu that you could either receive room service or eat in the lounge - again phone the poor girl in reception. Breakfast either hot or continental again both options of service. fruit salad drive and did not look fresh. I will not be returning here again

  Family friendly

  We stayed in a family room with 2 doubles and a sofa bed. The room was spacious with lots of power points for chargers etc. Due to the current pandemic unfortunately the gym and pool were closed which was a shame but understandable. Breakfast was very nice and set us up for our day out at Legoland. The hotel was clean and it felt very covid secure.

  A Pleasant Inn

  The stylish entrance foyer of this hotel provides a very good first impression. The hotel itself is set in a quiet part of town, within walking distance to the University and Cathedral. It also offers easy access to the dual carriageway and free parking.

  Noisy and stank of cigarettes

  Stayed for 4 nights, reception handed over a key card and didn't say anything about welcome or Covid etc. Room was fine, bedsheet was stained. Workers/guests leaving at 3,4,5am stomping down the corridor, shouting and laughing with zero concern about others. Hotel staff not seen for the whole visit. Car park has overflowing bins due to rooms not being serviced because of Covid and guests are taking out their own rubbish.The entrance stank of cigarettes and the Covid policy is not enforced. Cheap digs hiding behind a glossy brand.
