  Decent hotel, terribly unsafe

  Very kind staff. Hotel itself was quite nice. But power outage in the area revealed a whole hotel filled with emergency lights that DO NOT work. Completely unacceptable. Here for one night with two seniors citizens and two small children. Our room is pitch black, the stair well is pitch black, hallways have nothing but red exit signs.

  Terriffic hotel!

  We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for a visit to the Henry ford Museum and Greenfield Village. We did not rent a car during our stay and relied on the hotel shuttle bus to get us to and from the Henry Ford which threy did remarkably well. (Shout out to all the great van drivers at the HI Express!!) Our room was amazing, freshly made each day. The free breakfasts were filling although the choices were limited. The only drawback to this hotel is the location. It is located out of the way in an area with offices and warehouse looking buildings. There are very limited eating places close-by, and almost nothing within walking distance. To make up for that, the hotel does offer a free area shuttle to restaurants in the area and they took us to a great one on our last night there. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful in every way possible. We stayed 4 nights and other than limited places to eat nearby, I have nothing bad to say about this hotel. If you have your own transportation, or can use Uber or Lyft, this is a great place to stay between downtown Detroit and the airport.

  very nice and clean hotel

  staff was very polite and helpful room was clean and bed very comfortable as i have a bad back this was important to me , continental breakfast was okay, easy to get on interstate 75 to go where ever you want and variety of store and restaurant on fort street and allen street just down the road

  Good experience.

  Our family was visiting for a funeral. It started when we realized we would need to check in early to get ready for the viewing. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, allowing us to check in 3 hours early. Check-in was very fast. The room was clean and suited our needs (iron, hair dryer, etc). The pool/hot-tub hours were convenient, as adult pool hours are until midnight. When checking in they gave us tickets for breakfast, which I thought would be a continental breakfast. I was wrong, its a restaurant-style meal and you can order anything on the menu. The food and service were great!

  FIRST CLASS SERVICE ON A BUDGET!

  I've stayed at this hotel twice now and I couldn't be more impressed. From the minute I made my reservation the service was outstanding! Towana made my reservation for me over the phone and she was helpful, professional and had a great personality. When I arrived for my stay on February 21, 2020, I had the good fortune to meet Towana in person and she was just as pleasant and accommodating in person as she was on the phone! I stayed in room 330 and it was white-glove clean from top to bottom. The bed was quite firm - just how I like it - there were plenty of pillows and the linens kept me nice and toasty throughout the night. The room had a large flat-screen TV that I never turned on and plenty of room to store luggage and clothes. The bathroom was large and clean, but water pressure in the shower was not great. Large dispensers with shampoo, conditioner and body wash were located in the shower, there were two bars of hand soap on the sink and plenty of bath towels and hand towels. Free breakfast is usually the high point of my stay, and the Holiday Inn Express did not disappoint. Eggs, turkey sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, bagels, the ubiquitous waffle maker and the highlight...hot, gooey cinnamon rolls! Everything was fresh and the staff did an excellent job of keeping everything stocked on a busy Saturday morning. If you're travelling to Southgate and you're looking for a great night's stay at a great price, this Holiday Inn Express will not disappoint!
