  Brand new, clean, friendly

  The building is under 2 years old. Newer everything. Rooms are clean, and the staff is friendly. I haven't had any issues, and it's close to the highway plus it's within decent range of several restaurants.

  Closer to work

  I stay here sometimes because it's closer to where I pick up my semi and it's extremely convenient and they have great rates. Everything is close from stores to fast food and restaurants. The staff is great and never have any problems with my rooms.

  Friendly staff...and the rest needs some work

  We checked in recently for a 3 night get away to the Dunes area. Normally we stay at a different nearby hotel but this is a newer property so we thought we'd try it. Staff were friendly and professional. Now for the bad news...we had a dried piece of gum stuck to the side of one of the headboards, the ice bucket was wet and didn't appear to have been cleaned, and there was a medicine cup close to one of the beds but underneath the night stand between the two beds. We reserved the room for 4 people but were greeted with towels for 2. Housekeeping is only every 3 days due to the pandemic, so we had to take used towels to desk to get new ones, and had to place trash bags outside our door and get new bags from desk. Breakfast was identical for the 3 days we were there except for running out of some fruit and yogurt. The design of the hotel means the rooms are small for this level of hotel, the rooms are very dimly lit, and you can hear people walking across the floor in the room above you. Hallway noise is pronounced- especially with doors 'Ka-thunk" closing. I expected better for the price and points paid to stay here. Staff are friendly and I appreciate Indiana's mask requirements. My reviews tell it like it is- good and bad. I was surprised and disappointed, given other mostly very good reviews, that this is what our experience was like. We visit this area every year but will have reservations about returning to stay here.

  Dont trust the front desk staff

  Two weekends ago we played in a softball tournament in Portage. The first hotel had busted water pipes so we had to switch to the Holiday Inn Express. Normally we do not have any problems but this was not the case this time. We had 8 rooms and each room was charged different prices. Some rooms had deposit put on their accounts and others did Not. They had rooms under peoples names that were even there that weekend and some people did not even get receipts. When we complained to management we were told too bad it is what it is. Unfortunately for them they have just lost a lot of business as we travel almost every weekend and we will now be taking our business elsewhere. I guess it is what it is!

  Refused check in when car broke down

  Extremely disappointed in this hotel and manager. They refused check-in for my 20 year old daughter and her friend when their car broke down and they had to find the nearest place to stay. It was 9:00 at night. I have used Holiday Inn Express personally and professionally for 30 years so I made a reservation on Expedia. When my daughter attempted to check-in, they refused her since she was not 21 (she was less than 2 months away from her 21st birthday). I called the front desk and kindly asked the clerk to contact the manager to request an exception since it was late at night, the girls were 3 hours from home and they had nowhere to stay. The manager refused to let them stay. I understand the reason for policies but these were two young women in need and the hotel would not help. I even offered to provide an extra deposit. I am seriously rethinking my use of this hotel chain in the future. By the way, the Radisson hotel came through for us.
