  Modern

  Very modern, very clean and new. Love that they are not using individual toiletries. Breakfast is big and very well stocked. The front desk staff was outstanding. Pool was clean, maybe could have been a little warmer but thats just me. The bedding and choices of pillows were amazing.

  Needs attention to room cleaning

  We stayed here for 1 night and its a pretty new hotel. The place is nice. Unfortunately housekeeping needs a bit of work. We stayed in a double queen room for 4 and it had 2 bath towels. Had to ask for 2 more for the 4 of us in the room. The remote did not work because the batteries were dead. The shower gel and conditioner bottles were empty. The front desk gave us an extra bar soap for bathing when we told them. The toilet looked like it hadnt been cleaned with disinfectant cleaner in multiple weeks because there were orange streaks in it (the kind you get when bacteria starts growing from not cleaning it). There was dust, hair and dirt on the floor around the shower and toilet. There was someones old keycard on the floor between the beds. There was a hot wheels car on the floor by the window. There was trash and food stuck in the AC unit vents. If they assured with room had supplies needed and was cleaned properly it would have been a 5.

  Very nice hotel, clean; Friendly staff

  Great breakfast, clean room, modern, no problems at all. I will definitely return on future trips. Even during the COVID scamdemic, the hotel was still serving their full breakfast which includes a nice pancake maker machine and fresh Cinnabon cinnamon rolls!!!

  Safety precautions lacking

  This Holiday Inn Express is apathetic to safety precautions of guests. Masks are not required, and the breakfast buffet looks like it did in 2019 before COVID19's arrival. Guests are able to serve themselves to breakfast items (without a mask on) and breathe on the food that others may eat. The hotel may be new and bright but safety is not their concern. If you are looking for an IHG property in southeast Kansas, drive 20 minutes to Parsons. The difference is like night and day - masks required, breakfast-to-go in a sack yet nice hot coffee, and outstanding customer service. It has become my go-to place in southeast Kansas. I will not return to the Chanute location for future stays in the area. Stay and eat at your own risk...

  Feels like home and gives a sense of normalcy

  I have been reluctant to travel with all of the ridiculous craze with Covid 19. We were welcomed at this hotel. The common spaces were very clean and employees took precautions which I feel are excessive, but due to negative criticism toward freedom, I understand their predicament. They did not shame me as I am unable physically to wear a mask. Their food was normal and not the unhealthy grab bag breakfasts that others serve. I enjoy the healthy options of egg white omelets and Turkey sausage as well as the tasty high carb treats my children crave. The rooms are spacious and very clean and inviting. The staff was exceptionally kind and accommodating. If you love freedom and welcoming atmospheric here, in a time where people are hostile and emotionally distant, this hotel is a breath of fresh air!
