  Several problems; Needs improvement

  I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express St. Ignace for one night during a trip through the UP. On the plus side, this hotel is in an excellent location, right on the lakeshore and close to numerous bars and restaurants on the north side of St. Ignace. It's also just a 5-minute drive to the Mackinac Bridge and only 1-2 minutes drive to the ferry terminals for service to Mackinac Island. On the minus side, there were several issues I had with this hotel. The maintenance of the exterior and interior of the hotel seemed lacking. Lots of weeds in the landscape and just a worn-out appearance. There was a lot of noise in the hotel up until midnight and after 6 AM. Lots of doors being slammed, loud talkers, people running up and down the halls. I realize that the hotel management cannot control the behavior of every guest, but there could be more of a presence of management in the hallways every so often to check on loud noises and deter guests from foolish behavior. There was a strange odor in the room when I checked in, as though someone had been smoking or as though the stench of smoke had remained in the room from a previous smoking-allowed era. Some of the furniture in the room was quite worn and showed signs of damage. The DirecTV signal was not working on the TV in my room. The manager on duty responded to my request for assistance. She was very kind and tried multiple times during an hourlong period to repair the signal, but it was unsuccessful. She did credit my bill for $50 in response to this issue, which I appreciated. Still, it would have been nice to watch TV in my room during the evening. I doubt that I will return to this property unless I become aware of a major renovation in the meantime.

  Excellent protocol for social distancing!

  This location has taken all the right protocols for keeping guests safe! From check in to the room cleaning to breakfast. They have you wait and they serve you (as opposed to going through the line as usual) and then you can go sit outside or take it back to your room. As for the room we had, it was clean, well maintained and very comfortable Great Job H.I. Saint Ignace. We have stayed in the past and will again in the future! Thank you!

  Worst Holiday Inn Express

  This Holiday Inn is dirty. Walked in room and tile floors in entry and bath were dirty. Hotel looks like it has been ridden hard and put away wet. The refrigerator isnt clean. The lobby looks nice, but the breakfast area has dirty appliances. The rooms are noisynot enough insulation between the floors. The TV kept jamming up all night. Thankfully the check in staff was nice and tried to be helpful. Glad we only had to stay one night.

  Worse place ever!!!!

  Stayed one night here before going to the island. Had to call the hotel from the lobby to get someone to check us in. Room was dirty. Stains on the carpet. Opened packed of the coffee supplies not thrown out from last guest. At breakfast the employee taking care of the warm breakfast was rude. The only good thing about this stay was the view from our room and the girl working the front desk in the morning. This is a one and done for this place.

  Good

  We recently stayed at this location for the second time and we enjoyed our stay this time as well. Pay extra for the lake view, the views are incredible, especially at sunrise. We used the pool facilities and were happy with the hot tub as well as the pool. This location has a hot breakfast that is served by an employee and we thought it was great. We were told this location is the only hotel in the area that offers the hot breakfast during Covid so its a no brainer decision to stay here.
