  Very comfortable, but hotel could do with some refurbishment

  Having visited this hotel some years ago it was our first choice when visiting the area again. The room was very comfortable and very clean, but needs some refurbishment. The lampshades on the side lights were all broken and there were scuff marks on the walls. During the current situation there are posters advocating the use of the stairs rather than the lift, but in the three days that we stayed there the stairs were not cleaned once. The false nail and same bits of paper were there for all three days, so I am not sure that any disinfecting was going on on the handrails and door handles. The breakfast was interesting, but they were doing their best under the very difficult circumstances. Would probably stay there again.

  Super value

  I stayed for one one, and paid £51 including breakfast. Clean hotel, good size rooms and all the basic requirements met. Lots of parking and multiple places to eat within a five minute walk. The receptionist was fantastically efficient, and very friendly, a great welcome. Due to Covid the breakfast set up had changed, but I was still supplied with a great choice of pastries, fruit, cereal and hot sandwiches, no complaints from me, and the lady who was responsible for replenishing was again very friendly. Ive no complaints, and would happily use again.

  Warm welcome - friendly staff

  Just driven 200 miles in the cold wet rain on a winter Friday evening - to be met with a warm friendly greeting by Leanne working on reception desk. Smooth quick check in completed - CV19 procedures discussed clearly Likewise the following morning with breakfast serving also - friendly staff - dieting requests discussed and served with no issues - thank you Leanne and staff once more Even found out what colour Rose this side of Yorkshire is also

  Well looked after

  The place was surprisingly busy given the circumstances. They are very Covid aware so we felt safe. The room was clean and as to be expected. Staff were very friendly, especially the lady at breakfast. Its a different breakfast routine now but you can still find something to get the day started.

  Covid times

  Visited the site for lockdown prevailed. Adjacent pub closed. Food service restricted. Breakfast a take-away buffet arrangement. Room itself the normal good standard, despite the odd times which existed for all guests.
