  GOOD QPR AND RELATIVELY NEAR EXHIBITION CENTRE

  Got a special price due to group booking and was also offered the duplex suite ( down stairs sitting room with bedroom upstairs ) at standard room prices. We also discovered that we could use the swimming pool next door FOC so basically enjoyed the stay. The restaurant at the lobby level is relatively expensive and may be better off eating at the Sheraton opposite the road....

  Room for improvement

  We have stayed in this hotel for three to four times. Cheap and cheerful. Experienced dripping bottom of sink during last stay. Service poor in the one restaurant. Food offering poor - and friend complained of "stale" fruit. During last stay - food was being taken away before breakfast cutoff time so even more limited offering.

  Mostly Mainland Market

  This property is looked off the main Haikou city centre so you will definitely have to take a taxi ride to town which will shave off anywhere from 20 to 50 mins of your time depending on the peak hours. However it links straight the an expressway that will take you to Sun Moon shopping district which comprises of 12 malls named after the 12 Zodiac signs. Holiday Inn is a trusted brand and you will find that it maintains its standing here in Haikou. The morning buffet breakfast is good too and they even have a kids section. I love this property. Great balcony views and spacious rooms. High hygiene level and polite staffs. A special note to front desk manager Alan for his kind attention to my family stay.

  Easy access by bus from town or from mainland-train station

  Just take bus 37 or 40 and stop at Huang Jin Hai An stop. That being said, the area doesn't have much to offer, a few luxury hotels (I had a conference at one of them), and lots of construction in (eternal?) progress. Rooms are nice, though the main avenue before it is quite loud, with lots of trucks at night. Breakfast is basic but if you happen to be there at the same time as groups of tourists preparing for their day, you have to fight for your food and for a seat, and may not succeed. The staff doesn't speak English except for one lady with excellent English and amazingly willing to help, a huge plus for this hotel.

  The hotel I do not recommend for any foreign tourist to stay in

  This is a 3 star hotel that the tour operator sold us instead of standard Holiday Inn (few hundred meters aside). It looks like it lost its glory long time ago, very outdated, the food is very poor, nobody speaks English or able to use the translator to help you. If you want to use the taxi, you have to catch it on the street, there is no taxi around and if you order in the hotel it is twice more expensive. The hotel in its former years seems to have several swimming pools, now only one working and it is dirty. There is no indoor swimming pool, shadow area. The swimming pool is only working from 9 to 11 and 16 to 21. There is a sand beach without any facilities, just the sea and the sand across the road near Sheraton hotel. The rooms are OK and the cleaning service is a kind of OK. I am very unhappy that we selected this place. Do not recommend to any foreign tourist to visit this place.
